Experience and Qualifications: We looked for clinics with years of experience in serving clients and those with licensed practitioners. Those who hold memberships in professional associations stood out.

Range of Specialisation and Services: We checked each provider’s offering and chose the clinics offering counselling for adults, teens, and families or couples. Counsellors who also use therapy modalities and offer online sessions ranked higher.

Pricing: We prefer clinics with clear price listings and session durations. Bonus if they have package deals, introductory offers, or options for lower-income individuals.

Customer Service: We favoured counsellors who are easy to contact for booking, responsive in case of questions, and have friendly support.

More and more people are turning to counselling for support. It’s not because something is wrong, but because they want to understand themselves better.

Koa Counselling and Wellbeing caught our attention with their free discovery call. Unlike other clinics that charge clients for the first appointment, this centre opens its doors for those still testing the waters before committing to full sessions.

We also felt reassured that the counselling services are provided by Tracy Cheung, a registered clinical counsellor and therapist. She experienced some mental health struggles as well as being a third-culture child, which led her to learn psychotherapy.

Knowing that Tracy brings both professional training and lived experience, clients can expect supportive, culturally sensitive support.

Apart from that, the range of mental health concerns Tracy covers is impressive. She supports individuals with anxiety, work stress, and relationship issues. She also caters to women’s issues.

We also like how Tracy interacts with her clients, with many saying they felt heard and understood during sessions. Clients also shared that their sessions didn’t feel rushed and that Tracy allowed them open up at their own pace, with no pressure.

That said, since it’s a single practitioner centre, availability is limited.

Pros

  • Has strong academic and clinical credentials
  • Uses a wide range of clinically recognised therapies
  • Personalised care
  • Covers common and relevant mental health concerns
  • Has in-person and online counselling options
  • With a free initial consultation
  • Empathetic counsellor

Cons

  • Limited availability

Patient and empathetic

“Im glad I found Tracy on Google based on all the great reviews. She is professional with great patience and such empathy that, I know I can share with her my personal struggles with ease and feel listened. She also offers great practical tips on how to manage my emotions and I’m really grateful to her professional help and advice.”

– Mr. V H, Google Review

Professional and compassionate

“I cannot recommend Tracy highly enough. From the first session, I felt seen, heard, and safe. She asks the right questions that helped me gain clarity and perspective through many aspects of my life. She’s very compassionate, professional and I really appreciate the positive changes she’s helped guide me through.”

Hong Kong Counselling and Psychological Counselling Center’s 19 years of experience is hard to ignore. The fact that they’ve lasted for almost two decades says a lot about the trust they’ve earned from people seeking professional mental health support.

What stood out to us is their team-based approach. They have a multi-disciplinary team composed of clinical psychologists, psychiatrists, and multiple counsellors under one roof.

That means clients have direct access to different expertise, making it easy to match their needs with a particular professional.

We also think it’s very helpful that they offer psychiatric assessments. This is great news for those who may need a more comprehensive evaluation alongside counselling, without having to hop on a separate provider.

It’s also worth noting that this clinic offers a special pricing option for those with lower incomes. Their pricing is a bit on the higher side, so we think it’s great that the centre is still making an effort to make their services more accessible.

Pros

  • 19 years of experience
  • With a multi-disciplinary team
  • Offers individual, relationship, and child counselling
  • With psychiatric assessments
  • Short wait times
  • Presents different pricing options
  • With online sessions

Cons

  • Can be costly compared to other clinics

Professional attitude

“I am very grateful to Ms. Chen Zhuomin for her professional guidance and support. She listened patiently, understood my difficulties, and provided practical advice and methods that enabled me to better face the challenges. I was deeply moved by her professional attitude and sincere care. 👍🏻 …”

– Ms. A Tsang, Google Review

Listens without judgement

“I’m so grateful to have found Ms. Au Wai-yin for help.

She’s helped me through these difficult times! I feel like I’ve found a new direction to face challenges. It’s so hard to find someone to talk to about everyday problems, but after speaking with her, I feel so reassured because she listens to my thoughts without judgment.”

Hong Kong Family Constellation & Integral Psychotherapy Centre was particularly notable because of its focus on hypnotherapy and spiritual psychology.

Hypnotherapy isn’t usually used or offered by counsellors. The fact that this clinic integrated it with spiritual psychology gave clients a unique approach to addressing deep emotional issues.

Clients who consulted from this clinic shared that hypnotherapy worked well for them. Many reported feeling lighter and more aware of their internal patterns, which they found helpful in their relationships and personal lives.

We also find their family constellation workshops very helpful for those who prefer a more experiential approach. Many clients we spoke with praised their workshops, saying that they’ve become aware of family dynamics, leading to personal growth.

The fact that you can join their workshop and complement it with their one-on-one therapy sessions is also a major advantage.

They also offer a free 20-minute initial consultation, which is a great chance to see if their methods work well with you.

Pros

  • Led by a highly qualified psychotherapist and family constellation facilitator
  • Uses hypnotherapy and spiritual psychology
  • Addresses a variety of problems
  • Offers family constellation workshops
  • Can access therapy either face-to-face or via online sessions
  • Has a free 20-minute initial consultation

Cons

  • Non-traditional methods might not suit everyone

Cosy place

“A comfy and cozy place best suited for consultations and therapy. Highly recommend.”

– Mr. Jason Leung, Google Review

Great workshop

“I’m deeply grateful to Raymond Sir and Shadow Sister for giving me many opportunities to learn about family constellations over the years. Through this learning process, I’ve gained a deeper understanding of the hidden dynamics behind families. As the Disciple’s Guide says: “Everyone needs love.” See the truth clearly and bravely face the journey. Only by restoring love can we rewrite our destiny. I’m grateful for the privilege of participating. Each workshop incorporates a wealth of new elements. It’s truly wonderful. Thank you, teacher, for your guidance.”

For those looking for couples therapy in Hong Kong, we think Momentum Counselling is a solid choice. They utilise the Gottman method, aresearch-backed approach designed to help partners strengthen their emotional connection and improve communication.

Momentum Counselling does this by using practical strategies and tools (such as guided exercises and structured conversations) to naturally foster cooperation and empathy between partners.

They also piqued our interest because they collaborate closely with clients to create a plan rather than build it on their own.

Clients mentioned that their counsellor consistently asked about their individual goals, strengths, and values to better tailor a plan that fits them.

We find that a strong reflection of how well their counsellors communicate with their clients. They actively engage instead of just listening.

Since they also offer therapy sessions online, clients can access support from the comfort of their homes. We think it suits busy individuals and introverts who are not comfortable attending an in-person session.

Just one thing to take note of: they have a very strict cancellation policy. They’ll charge you the full amount for last-minute cancellations.

Pros

  • Founded by two experienced counsellors
  • Utilises evidence-based and integrative approach
  • Personalised treatment plans
  • Offers counselling services for individuals, couples, and teens
  • Flexible formats
  • Provides practical tools
  • Great communication

Cons

  • Strict cancellation policy
  • Small team

Warm and understanding

“A fantastic experience. A really warm and empathetic understanding, unrushed and Patricia was an expert at allowing me to go deep into my own senses and challenge myself; with plenty of guidance, help and support to both learn and unlearn habits and behaviours. Would highly recommend.”

– Mr. Alex Bowen, Google Review

Practical advice

“I cannot say enough about Momentum Counselling and Jill Carter. She has helped me and my family navigate some of the most difficult times with compassion, empathy, and support. Her advice is practical and her direction spot on. She is professional and loving at the same time. Highly recommend!”

We found Renewed Edge Counselling after looking for a clinic that has multilingual support. Their team caters to Cantonese, Mandarin, and French-speaking clients. This makes them a solid choice for native speakers of these languages.

They’re also one of the clinics offering multimodal counselling and hypnotherapy. This includes a mix of cognitive-based therapy (CBT), emotion-focused therapy, and hypnotherapy.

Knowing they have this variety allows clients to find what works best for them, especially if they want to skip traditional talk therapy.

From what we’ve heard, they also have helpful self-hypnosis tools, which clients can utilise between sessions. This shows how genuine they want to help their clients even outside of session hours.

We also appreciate that they offer therapy both in person and online. This flexibility makes it easier for those busy clients to fit counselling into their schedules.

If there’s a disadvantage, it’s the fact that hypnotherapy might just not be for everyone or might intimidate some clients.

Pros

  • Uses multimodal counselling and hypnotherapy
  • Multilingual team
  • With self-hypnosis tools
  • Accommodates in-person and remote counselling
  • Recognised by therapist directories
  • Reassuring counsellors

Cons

  • Hypnotherapy isn’t for every client

Helpful service

“I’ve been going to see Christine the last few months, and she’s been an immense help in assisting me with my personal matter through the use of hypnosis, and teaching me self-hypnosis. I was in a very dark place, and she was able to at the very least help me flip my perspective on the situation to a degree. I still have rough periods, but I’m a lot better than I used to be in such a short amount of time. I’d recommend Christine, and her practice to anyone that might be struggling with a certain issue that’s affected their livelihood. Christine, and her associates may be able to help.”

– Mr. Cameron D, Google Review

Amazing experience

“It was my 1st experience with hypnotherapy and I have to say this was an amazing experience to work with Christine, she is extremely professional, efficient, a great listener and knows how to support you along this discovery of your mind and reconnection with your subconscious. Can only highly recommend Christine and Renewed Edge to anyone. Can be a life changing experience for anyone. Am not yet done on this path and will definitely carry on working with her…”

– Mr. Thomas Mouliac, Google Review
