The 5 Best E-Commerce Platforms in Hong Kong Worth Using by Sellers

  • Ease of Use: We looked into how easy it was to set up a store on the platform and manage it day-to-day. We also assessed whether they have clear dashboards, smooth product uploads, and minimal learning curves.
  • Payment Gateway Integration: We considered how well the platform supported local and international payment options. We factored in support for credit cards, Alipay, WeChat Pay, and bank transfer payments for orders.
  • Value for Money: We compared subscription tiers, transaction fees, and hidden costs, if there are any. The piece must match the features provided, including security and compliance through SSL certificates, GDPR compliance, and fraud protection.
  • Logistics Integration: We evaluated how well platforms integrate with HK-based couriers and delivery services. We looked into automatic shipping rate calculators, order tracking, and fulfillment options.
  • Scalability and Add-ons: We assessed whether the platform could grow with a business, from startup to enterprise level. We looked into app marketplaces, plugins, and third-party integrations.

Think starting an online store in Hong Kong is just as simple as uploading a few pics and waiting for the cha-ching? Not quite!

As one of the biggest shopping centers in the world, HK buyers are picky when it comes to trusting online shops. So, for sellers, choosing an e-commerce platform is one of the most crucial decisions.

You either choose a full-service, end-to-end agency or a site builder that lets you DIY your way through everything. Either way, this list will provide you with options that our team reviewed and considered among the best.

How much does it cost to join an e-commerce platform in Hong Kong?

The cost to join an e-commerce platform in Hong Kong for sellers starts at $99 for basic services, while full-rounded services range from $3,000 to $18,000 per year. Custom websites or e-commerce stores can cost anywhere from $6,000 to $90,000 per site.

For a straightforward, all-in-one solution, we find Storeberry to be a solid choice. They have features that are ideal for SMEs, including an omnichannel that integrates POS and order management.

We like that their interface supports responsive web design and provides access to multiple theme templates. This allows businesses to customize their storefronts, which is a solid entry into customization.

For businesses that value analytics, we find it advantageous that Storeberry has support for Facebook Pixel and Google Analytics 4. These features make it easier to track e-commerce conversions and digital marketing.

Their customer service is also a noteworthy factor about them. The support team is easy to reach and has been consistently described by retailers as professional and friendly.

That said, peak times mean a bit of wait time to be accommodated.

It’s also best to note that it’s not the most beginner-friendly platform out there, considering the lack of onboarding support. There is a self-learning manual, though, but it may be limiting for less tech-savvy merchants.

Pros

  • All-in-one omnichannel platform
  • Built-in POS, CRM, inventory, and order management
  • Facebook Live selling automation
  • Real-time sales reporting
  • Seamless logistics and payment integration
  • No transaction communication fees
  • Multiple theme templates
  • SEO and analytics tools integration
  • Free SSL certificates
  • Reasonable pricing
  • Fast and reliable customer service

Cons

  • Not beginner-friendly
  • No guided setup and onboarding

Prompt service and user-friendly UI

“Very prompt support from their customer service. Friendly UI and definitely will recommend to other friend in need.”

In terms of convenience and scalability, we find Mshop App’s features sufficient for startups and SMEs. They not only focus on e-commerce website development, but also on mobile apps, POS systems, and live-stream order management.

We were particularly impressed with their interface – it’s simple and easy to understand for beginners. It also allows business owners to upload products in bulk via Excel, which streamlines the integration process.

Plus, the platform has specific offerings that will help streamline the ordering process. This includes supporting wholesale and retail orders in one place, with one-click options for printing shipping labels.

To put it simply, processing split or merged ships and tracking logistics will be less time-consuming and costly for shop owners.

Another key advantage is that they have solid customer support. Business owners get real-time support via WhatsApp groups, direct calls, and even reach to dedicated setup consultations.

Pricing, however, isn’t fully disclosed – consultations are necessary to at least get a ballpark. This may be limiting for those on a budget who need immediate rates for comparisons.

Pros

  • All-in-one e-commerce system
  • Branded mobile app creation (iOS and Android)
  • Built-in POS integration
  • Facebook Live order management tools
  • One-click order processing and label pricing
  • Supports both wholesale and retail orders
  • Merge/split payment features
  • Bulk product upload via Excel
  • Flexible online store layout
  • Real-time support via WhatsApp and calls
  • Dedicated onboarding and setup consultations
  • Accepts PayMe, Alipay, and credit cards
  • Integration with Google Ads

Cons

  • Lacks transparency on pricing
  • Limited info on service tiers

eCOMMop stood out to us with its fully-managed approach to marketplace selling. Unlike typical platforms that only provide tools, this platform offers full operation support for TikTok Shop and Amazon.

The platform also won our favor with its end-to-end service coverage. They handle a wide variety of services, including managing viral product scouting and sourcing directly from suppliers.

We think start-ups and small businesses will really find these useful to get a good boost in the space.

What’s even more impressive is how well-rounded the features are in terms of digital marketing. eCOMMop also manages digital asset creation, PPC ads, influencer outreach, and even handles customer service for the client.

Finally, we appreciated that their approach involves working with businesses as a “growth partner,” which essentially keeps clients informed throughout the entire strategy and execution process.

Downside? The entire function isn’t typical of the DIY e-commerce format. As a full-service agency model, they may not be the best option for sellers looking for hands-on control. And yes, the total costs are expected to be higher too.

Pros

  • Fully managed e-commerce support
  • Specialises in TikTok Shop and Amazon
  • Handles product sourcing
  • Offers a low minimum order quantity
  • Viral product scouting included
  • End-to-end store management
  • Digital asset creation
  • PPC ad management
  • Influencer outreach services
  • Dedicated account manager

Cons

  • May not be suitable for DIY-oriented users
  • Less flexibility for sellers

Excellent services from strategy to execution

“Ecommop has been fantastic. They offered excellent services from strategy to execution and always kept me in the loop. The team is professional, responsive, and truly dedicated to your success. Kudos to everyone at Ecommop!”

Popicorns, better known by the public as Homary, offers a comprehensive specialization for resellers. Unlike other platforms where any type of general merchandise can be sold, Popicorns tailors their services for affordable home and lifestyle products.

We also appreciate how the e-commerce site focuses on customer-centric features. Buyers can explore the store and enjoy secure payment options, delivery guarantees, and 24/7 customer support.

This won us as features like these help businesses establish a more credible image with their target audience.

On top of that, the platform also supports live shopping and inspiration galleries. This allows sellers to customize the shopping experience and tailor their offerings.

That said, sellers may face challenges when it comes to delivery and logistics. Clients have noted issues with damaged goods, as well as slow refund resolutions, which reflect badly on the sellers’ end.

At least, the good side is that Popicorns handles the fulfillment and customer service. This takes off the hard work from the sellers who would have to be knee-deep in the issues for complete resolution.

Pros

  • Polished, high-converting storefront
  • Specializes in a specific product group
  • 24/7 customer service
  • Support secure payment options
  • Live shopping and galleries are supported
  • Supports 24-hour dispatch on items
  • Strong presence in HK online shopping

Cons

  • Issues with logistics and refund resolutions
  • Lacks customisation and control

Everything is fine

“In the end everything is fine: beautiful table arrived damaged, lengthy negotiations about the return, in the end POPICORNS refunded everything.”

InsCoder got our attention as one of the best Shopify agencies in Hong Kong, serving locations such as the Greater Bay Area, Macau, and Taiwan. Unlike basic plug-and-play platforms, they offer a full-service solution tailored to scalable brands.

Their track record is also impressive – they have 10 years of experience and over 1,000 projects delivered. Moreover, they’ve helped over 300 local and overseas clients, so we’re confident in the level of service they can offer.

What’s even more impressive is the range of services. This includes data analysis, UI/UX design, online store development, and custom app creation. All of this is done in-house, which we favour for better quality control.

The overall project management is also a solid factor. As we’ve gathered from interviews, they deliver projects on time, and the communication all throughout was clear and well updated.

However, considering the scale of services they can offer, it’s no surprise that the fees are considerably high. This may be a roadblock for many startups, who, in general, would’ve benefited the most from their well-rounded offerings.

Pros

  • Over 10 years of Shopify development experience
  • 1,000 e-commerce projects completed
  • Full-service agency
  • In-house team for all services
  • End-to-end Shopify support
  • Wide range of e-commerce services
  • Research and data analysis included
  • Ideal for SEO-friendly websites
  • Ideal for scalable services

Cons

  • Relatively high rates
  • May not suit DIY-oriented users
