Hugill and Ip is an independent law firm in Hong Kong that provides expert legal advice for different areas of practice, from corporate to individual cases.

Of course, they cover services for employment law, as well as legalisation of documents to support businesses and individuals.

They provide a set of highly systematic and tailored solutions to clients that goes beyond employment and immigration law knowledge.

Aside from being highly qualified in the high courts and cracking on cases all day, we think it’s also great to see some law firms that are active in community work and taking on social responsibility.

They’ve received numerous awards and recognitions both globally and locally for their participation in civic programs.

We’re also impressed at how they’ve organised a lot of events and activities that are strongly anchored in social responsibility, like the #foodwill Campaign with Feeding Hong Kong and a lot more.

Our favourite thing about Hugill and Ip Solicitors is their emphasis on diversity and inclusion and being committed to holding themselves accountable for fulfilling civic duties.

We definitely like how everyone at the firm remains very professional and welcoming of their clients.

Plus, handling legality can be overwhelming, and their attitude in the firm helps there. It takes away that initial feeling of intimidation.

Pros

  • Easily accessible office
  • Provides legal services in a lot of different areas
  • Fast service in-office
  • Friendly office staff and lawyers

Cons

  • Mainly corporate and commercial law

JC Legal is a group of lawyers in Hong Kong that assists small- and medium-sized companies in legal matters.

They have established broad practice in corporate and commercial law, regulatory compliance, and dispute resolution.

While much of their services are focused primarily on corporate and commercial law, part of their expertise is also employment law.

For employment law, they attend to issues regarding appointment, termination, and statutory entitlements; staff and manual welfare; and employee share options.

Apart from having highly competitive lawyers in their roster, many of their previous and even current clients commend them for putting their client’s issues first before the costs.

Their lawyers are known for being passionate and very friendly, and they get to understand you and your issues first before jumping into the fee schedule.

Other than that, we also find them to be easy to communicate with. They’re very professional but not in an intimidating way, which we find great since talking about legal matters can be daunting in itself.

All in all, they’re a dependable law firm with really good staff and even more capable lawyers.

They have a clean, spacious office that can be found at the Sheun Wang. Getting there is no problem at all, but it’d be best to come with an appointment beforehand to avoid waiting too long.
