The 10 Best Indonesian Restaurants in Hong Kong You Shouldn’t Sleep On
If there’s one thing HK has taught me, it’s that the best food spots aren’t always the fancy ones in Central. Sometimes, they’re the small, humble stalls you wouldn’t even take a second look at.
When it comes to Indonesian food, the same rules apply. In fact, I have a few spots that you likely have been skipping on your searches.
But lucky for you, I don’t gatekeep like other HK foodies. Enjoy authentic Indonesian food at these spots!
1. Pandan Leaf Indonesian Food

Address: Hong Kong, Causeway Bay, Sugar St, 1-5號Shop B2, G/F
Price: $$
For a good range of household Indonesian dishes, Pandan Leaf is a top choice. They offer pretty much every staple food: satay, fried rice, and noodles.
They also offer a solid range of vegetarian and vegan options. I usually come here for tofu, tempeh, and their gado gado salad.
When it comes to mains, you can’t miss their popular specialties. Some of my favorites include their aromatic pandan rice and their well-seasoned beef rendang.
The best part is that it’s close to public transport – easy for casual meetups.
Pro Tip: If you don’t want to dine in, consider their takeout options instead. Look into kuehs (Indonesian desserts) too for a complete meal.

This family-run business has been offering delicious Indonesian food in Hong Kong for over 50 years. Options here are nothing but authentic, from their fragrant coconut rice to their perfectly spiced satay.
There are plenty of signature dishes here, including nasi goreng, pepes ikan, and rendang. I love that most dishes are dairy-free too, as they’re made with coconut milk.
Service here is pretty great. There’s usually no wait time, even during busy lunch hours. Plus, considering HK prices, the price and portions are well-balanced.
Pro Tip: Pair a hearty meal with a light side. For instance, you can get mushroom rendang as a main and get pomelo salad on the side. This way, you can really get the most out of Indonesian flavors.

This Michelin-recommended restaurant is one of HK’s most trusted Indonesian restaurants. The range of signature dishes is awesome, offering nasi goreng, soto ayam, and lontong cap go meh.
If I have to pick a top dish, though, it definitely has to be satay. Pork, chicken, and lamb are available. Whichever meat you choose, it’s always perfectly grilled.
The smoky char and the rich peanut sauce really take things to the next level.
Pricing is very affordable. If you stick to the mains, you may only end up spending $50 to $100 per meal.

The portion sizes here are great too. When dining alone, I occasionally find myself with leftovers from such generous servings. You can also dine with friends so you can share meals and split the bill.
Kampoeng is located near the MTR and is close to many Indonesian goods stores. If you’re in the area and need a quick bite, just pop in and enjoy some delicious food.

The meats here are simply tender, with just the right amount of juiciness to them. Pork, chicken, and beef options are available. They’re all equally good – it just depends on your preference at this point.
The peanut sauce is exceptionally flavorful. It’s rich, thick, and available in normal and spicy versions. Service is also quick here, thanks to the casual, street-food style setup.
Pro Tip: Don’t worry about the language barrier – there are staff here who speak English, so tourists can easily interact and communicate requests.

I love the profile of the flavors here. It features rich, thick toppings that are sweet but not overly sugary. The crust is chewy, soft, and slightly crispy.
You can choose from sweet, savory, and crispy martabak (I personally prefer sweet). There is a wide variety of toppings too, including cheese, peanut butter, and more.

Cooking Lobo is well-loved in the area for genuine, home-style flavors. Though slightly more expensive than most Indonesian restaurants in Hong Kong, the serving sizes are generous, giving incredible value per meal.
Some of my favorite dishes here include the braised beef ribs, grilled fish, and nasi goreng. Their spicy homemade sambal is also a delight.
The space is compact, but it has that welcoming vibe, as if you’re simply at someone’s home. Service is pretty fast as well, so it’s ideal for those quick runs for late-night cravings.

Considering the portion sizes, this is one of the most affordable spots in the city. There are set meals available for only $120, and that’s hearty enough for a filling meal.
It’s located in Causeway Bay, so it’s close to many key shopping spots in the area. Plus, there are some Indonesian supermarkets nearby. I do recommend checking them out after your meal!

Sometimes I’d find myself traveling to Causeway Bay just to have Win’s delicious satay skewers. They’re grilled over charcoal, so the smokiness and juiciness of the meat really shine through.
I love their nasi goreng too. The rice is just the right amount of crispy, and spices and seasonings really hit at every bite.
Most meals are about $50 to $100, so the value for money is great. Portions are hearty enough to make you full for the entire day.
Pro Tip: Have a hard time finding Win’s? Don’t worry – it’s near the Indonesian Consulate!
