5 Best Storage Spaces in Hong Kong to Reclaim Your Space

  • Security measures: We checked CCTV and access controls. Your belongings shouldn’t be easier to reach than your front door.
  • Climate control: We looked for proper temperature and humidity control. That matters when storing clothes, documents and other moisture-sensitive items.
  • Contract flexibility: We compared short- and long-term rental terms. You shouldn’t be locked into a year when you only need a few months.
  • Fire safety: We checked for proper fire-safety measures and compliance. Storage space isn’t much use if basic protection is missing.
  • Pricing transparency: We favoured providers that clearly explain their fees. Surprise deposits and hidden charges can make a cheap unit expensive fast.

My basement renovation has somehow turned into a full-house game of Tetris. Boxes, furniture and things I forgot I owned suddenly need somewhere else to live.

That sent me hunting for the best storage space in Hong Kong before the renovation dust takes over everything. In a city where spare room is practically a luxury item, a secure unit can be a real sanity-saver.

I did my research and came up with reliable spaces for my things. Let’s see which storage spaces can give your home some much-needed breathing room.

How much does storage space cost in Hong Kong?

Storage space in Hong Kong can cost anywhere from 29 per month for a valet box to 5,000+ for a large unit.

Small lockers of around 8–12 sq. ft. usually cost 400–800 per month. Medium units measuring 20–30 sq. ft. are typically 1,100–1,800.

For larger 50+ sq. ft. units, expect to pay around 2,400–5,000+ per month. Valet door-to-door boxes are the cheapest option at roughly 29–49 per box.

All figures are in HK$.

1. RedBox Storage Hong Kong

Website

Address: 22/F & 22B, Chai Wan Industrial Centre, 20 Lee Chung Street, Chai Wan

Contact: 25561116 | 26873288

Hours: Daily, 7 AM – midnight (storage access); Customer service, daily, 10 AM – 10 PM

RedBox Storage Hong Kong stood out to me for taking security seriously without making access feel like a military checkpoint.

The Chai Wan branch uses CCTV, individual PIN access and round-the-clock climate control to help protect belongings from Hong Kong’s humidity.

I visited this branch last year, and the parking made unloading far less painful than I expected. The app is handy for managing your account, invoices and payments without another trip to the office.

There’s a good spread of unit sizes, so it works for anything from a few boxes to a bigger home clear-out.

I particularly like that the facility feels practical rather than overcomplicated.

The catch is that storage access stops at midnight, so night owls won’t get true 24/7 entry.

Their smaller locker units are only around half-height too, which makes them less useful for bulky items or ambitious box-stacking.

Pros

  • CCTV and individual PIN access
  • 24-hour air conditioning and humidity control
  • Convenient parking at the Chai Wan branch
  • App-based account, invoice and payment management
  • Good range of unit sizes

Cons

  • Storage access stops at midnight
  • Smaller locker units are only around half-height

Professional Service and Clean Storage

Very helpful staff member, Simon; good introduction for new users. Storage looks very clean and safe. He’s also so helpful and knowledgeable throughout the process. The entire experience is so smooth and professional. I would definitely recommend this storage place.

Highly Impressive and Friendly Staff

I just went to Red Storage for a site visit. The place is neat, clean and well organised. I read comments from other people, and yes, staff member Simon is very helpful. He is very friendly,

patient, explained everything to us and helped me measure the space. Very impressive. Having a good team elevated the service to a 5-star level.

2. The Store House 易存家迷你倉 – Sai Wan

Website

Address: 9/F Hong Kong Industrial Building, 444-452 Des Voeux Road West, Western District

Contact: +852 3895 9401 | [email protected]

Hours: Daily, 9 AM – 6 PM | 24/7 storage access

The Store House Sai Wan feels particularly handy if you’re moving house and don’t fancy wrestling with language barriers on top of boxes.

English-speaking support is available, while 24/7 access means you can fetch your things even on public holidays.

I like that the branch has free parking and a loading area, which makes move-in day a bit less painful. There’s currently a free move-in transport promotion too, though that perk can change.

Security is another strong point, with smart access and fire-safety measures across the facility. It’s a practical setup for anyone who needs flexible access without constantly working around office hours.

The catch is the deposit: passport holders may need to put down three months’ rent, versus one month for Hong Kong ID holders.

You’ll also need to give one month’s written notice before ending your rental.

Pros

  • 24/7 storage access, including public holidays
  • English-speaking customer support
  • Free parking and loading area at Sai Wan
  • Smart access and fire-safety measures
  • Free move-in transport promotion may be available

Cons

  • Passport holders may need a three-month rental deposit
  • One month’s written notice is required to end the rental

Excellent Facilities and Reasonable Fees

Really excellent; would highly recommend – unlike some other storage facilities, there was no minimum 1-2 day notice for booking a space. They are open 7-days a week and the space is air-conditioned. Fee is reasonable and you can pay by the month (although there is a 1-month termination notice). The staff member I met was extremely helpful/friendly [Maggie]. Also there is an excellent see view for your belongings to enjoy 🌅 😂)

Perfect Space and Professional Experience

Great experience at The Storage House. The staff Maggie, was very friendly, and the storage space was perfect for my needs. The storage fees are also comparatively cheaper than other places in Kennedy Town. Very professional as well, I would definitely recommend.

3. 24 STORAGE 迷你倉/自存倉/迷你箱儲存/共享工作間

24-storage

Website

Address: Unit A, 23/F, Chai Wan Industrial Centre, 20 Lee Chung Street

Contact: +852 2424 2433 | [email protected]

Hours: 24/7 customer storage access

24 STORAGE Chai Wan caught my eye for making access feel refreshingly fuss-free. Facial recognition and smart electronic locks mean there’s no physical key to lose at the worst possible moment.

You can get to your unit 24/7, which is handy if your schedule runs later than the MTR crowds.

Smart disinfection robots patrol the common areas too, adding another layer of upkeep.

I like that unit sizes and promotional rates are clearly shown online, so comparing options doesn’t feel like detective work. The setup suits anyone who wants modern access without much faffing about.

The catch is that monthly renters need to pay a one-month security deposit upfront.

Promotional rates are mainly for new customers and can last up to a year, so you may pay more once the offer ends.

Pros

  • 24/7 storage access
  • Facial recognition entry
  • Smart electronic locks
  • Smart disinfection robots in common areas
  • Unit sizes and promo rates listed online

Cons

  • One-month security deposit required
  • Promotional rates mainly apply to new customers/rates may increase after the promo period ends

Reliable Storage with Great Amenities

Yoko helped me a lot to find the right storage meeting my requirements. The moving company recommended did the job without any problems. I’m glad to move from the well-known self-storage downstairs. The washroom is cleaner, the air conditioning is well controlled, not to mention free coffee and two working cubicles for use.

Spacious Facility and Perfect Temperature

The storage is clean and spacious. The wine storage room is always at the perfect temperature to keep our wines in perfect condition.

Yoko is efficient, friendly and excellent on following up. A very reliable storage that everyone should trust.

4. Boxful 自助迷你倉 – 荔枝角提存站

boxful

Website

Address: Flat 10B, 1/F Elite Industrial Centre, 883 Cheung Sha Wan Road, Lai Chi Kok

Contact: 3565 6850 | 5579 3755 | [email protected]

Hours: 24/7 customer storage access

Boxful’s Lai Chi Kok self-storage setup feels made for people who want less fuss at move-in. There’s no security deposit, and the company lists a best-price guarantee that makes comparing costs a bit less painful.

I like that you still get private access to your own unit instead of handing everything over to a warehouse.

Each locker comes with insurance coverage too, which adds a little extra peace of mind.

The branch works well for short-term decluttering, renovation overflow, or simply reclaiming a bit of precious Hong Kong floor space.

It’s a straightforward option if you want storage without a huge upfront commitment.

The catch is that plans include only one free access per month, with extra visits charged separately. Optional move-in and pickup services can cost extra too, so frequent access may quickly become less budget-friendly.

Pros

  • No security deposit
  • Best-price guarantee available
  • Private access to your own unit
  • Insurance coverage included with lockers
  • Handy for renovation overflow and short-term storage

Cons

  • Only one free access per month/extra visits are charged separately
  • Move-in and pickup services can add to the total cost

5. 柴灣迷你倉 – 原儲存 RESTORE – 富誠工業大廈分店 Chai Wan Storage

restore-chai-wan-storage

Website

Address: Unit 04, 6/F (Reception), Block B, Fortune Factory Building, 40 Lee Chung Street, Chai Wan

Contact: 6633 8008 | WhatsApp: 85266338008

Hours: Facility visits: Daily, 10 AM–10 PM by appointment | Last appointment, 9:30 PM | Sunday, 2 PM – 6 PM | 24/7 customer storage access

RESTORE Chai Wan makes a good case for paying only for the space you actually need.

Units start from very small sizes, and monthly plans mean you don’t have to cough up a year’s rent just to stash a few boxes.

I like that you only need a one-month deposit plus your first month’s rent to get started. Smart locks and 24/7 access make late-night retrievals much less of a drama.

The branch puts a strong focus on fire-safety measures too, which matters when your renovation overflow is basically half your household. It feels flexible enough for both small decluttering jobs and longer storage needs.

The catch is the one-month minimum rental, so it won’t suit anyone needing space for just a few days.

Specific unit sizes and promotional rates can be limited by availability too.

Pros

  • Flexible unit sizes
  • Monthly rental plans with no annual prepayment
  • One-month deposit only
  • 24/7 storage access
  • Smart electronic locks
  • Strong fire-safety measures

Cons

  • One-month minimum rental period
  • Specific unit sizes may be limited by availability
  • Promotional rates may not always be available
