Hong Kong Children’s Discovery Museum

Hong Kong Heritage Museum

The Hong Kong Heritage Museum rocks for families.

Guess what’s back and totally awesome? The Hong Kong Museum of Art! After some major renovations, it’s back in action, standing tall by the beautiful Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront.

This museum is not just about looking at paintings quietly – it’s all about making art super fun for everyone, especially kids! They’ve jazzed up their exhibitions with interactive features, so you and your little ones can have a blast while you’re checking out all the cool art.

There’s tons to see here. From the mind-blowing ‘Ordinary to Extraordinary’ exhibits to an amazing collection of Chinese painting and calligraphy, there’s art in every nook and cranny.

Explore the fascinating ‘Hong Kong Story’ at the Hong Kong Museum of History, a great pick for family fun! 

This exhibit is divided into eight galleries. From way back when dinosaurs roamed during the Devonian period (like 400 million years ago) to the reunification with China in 1997.

Your kids will be amazed by the special effects that show how the city has changed over time. It’s a totally immersive and educational experience that we bet you’ll also enjoy.

Hong Kong Railway Museum

Choo-choo! All aboard for a train-tastic adventure at the Hong Kong Railway Museum! 

Trains have a way of exciting kids (and even grown-ups), and this museum is a total hit for little train enthusiasts. They’ll step into history at the old Tai Po Market Railway Station, built way back in 1913.

Given how much we rely on the MTR every day, a trip to Tai Po is a great way for the family to dive into Hong Kong’s train history. 

The education corner here is packed with interactive displays, offering a sneak peek into the future of the MTR with detailed plans for upcoming extensions. 

Hong Kong Science Museum

Have you heard about the Hong Kong Science Museum? It’s one of the best spots for kids around here! 

Picture mind-blowing exhibitions about science, tech, and even space. And on the 3rd floor, they’ve set up this awesome Children’s Gallery – it’s a hit with kids! 

Think Big Kids’ Worksite, Time Tower, and Hidden Animals. It’s like a fun challenge zone that brings out their teamwork and imagination skills. 

Oh, and those daily science demos? Kids absolutely love them! They’re super cool and add an extra spark to the whole experience.

Hong Kong Space Museum

Ever seen that cool domed building along Salisbury Road? That’s the Hong Kong Space Museum!

Kids can dive into the ‘Hall of the Cosmos’ and ‘Hall of Space Exhibition.’ They’ll get to unravel the mysteries of the universe, space exploration, and the solar system – totally mind-blowing stuff, even us adults will wonder in awe.

Don’t miss the 3D Dome or Omnimax shows at the planetarium. Your little astronauts will love these immersive adventures, taking them on virtual reality trips to space stations and beyond.

After exploring the museum, families can go to the Stanley Ho Space Theatre. It’s like a cinema, but way more intergalactic. Just note that kids under 3 can’t join in on this stellar cinema experience.

Hong Kong Museum of Coastal Defence


Address: 175 Tung Hei Rd, Shau Kei Wan, Hong Kong

This museum, set atop a headland overlooking Lyemun Pass, used to be the old Lyemun Fort and is now a cool spot for kids to visit!

Parents and kids can check out all kinds of neat things here, from the days of the Tang dynasty to today. 

Take a stroll along the Historical Trail when the weather’s clear. There are ancient batteries, anti-aircraft guns, hidden ammo spots, and even torpedo installations to explore. 

And, oh, those viewing spots? Great for snapping some cool pics of Lyemun Pass!
