The 5 Best Assisted Living in Hong Kong Where Seniors Feel at Home

  • Quality of Care: I didn’t just look for places that handle the basics. The best facilities offer personalized care, have trained staff available around the clock, and make families feel reassured that their loved ones are in good hands.
  • Comfort and Environment: With space in Hong Kong always at a premium, I paid attention to facilities that still feel welcoming and comfortable.
  • Community and Activities: I looked for homes that create a sense of community—places with activities, cultural programs, and everyday opportunities to make new friends.
  • Location and Accessibility: I leaned toward facilities that are easy for families to visit and close to essential healthcare services.
  • Transparency and Affordability: I went with facilities that are clear about their pricing and make sure families get good value for the care provided.

My aunt used to brush off any mention of getting help. She insists she can still manage, even though climbing the stairs left her breathless and her meals often came from the convenience store downstairs.

She’s not alone. In Hong Kong, many seniors resist the idea of assisted living because they worry about losing their independence or becoming a burden to their families. But the truth is, the right care environment can actually give them more freedom, not less.

With professional support and safe facilities, older adults can continue living with dignity while their families gain peace of mind.

To help you find the right fit, we researched and rounded up the best assisted living facilities in Hong Kong. These are the ones we found provide comfort, a safe environment, and a sense of home to many seniors.

How much does assisted living in Hong Kong cost?

Assisted living in Hong Kong costs between HK$1,500 and HK$82,000 per month, depending on the type of facility and level of care. Public nursing homes cost around HK$1,500-HK$3,000 per month, while private facilities range from HK$5,600-HK$82,000 per month.

Evercare Health Limited focuses on making home-based elderly care as seamless as possible.

They offer services like live-in caregivers, rehabilitation therapy, and medical escorts. They also handle a wide range of care needs, from stroke and cancer recovery to dementia and post-operative support.

In addition to these services, they also provide nutrition guidance tailored to each resident’s health. We really like this because it ensures every resident’s meal is being monitored and they’re getting the proper nutrition they need.

Another thing that stood out to me was their rapid response time. They match clients with a suitable caregiver within 24 hours, which suggests a well-organized system for urgent needs.

To get a better sense of how it works, I also spoke with one of their clients. They mentioned that having a dedicated case manager and regular updates on their loved one’s progress made a real difference.

I just wish they had more physical facilities. Since most care happens at home, there isn’t really a communal space for clients to socialize.

Pros

  • Innovative care model
  • Personalized care
  • Live-in caregivers
  • Support recovery from injuries or illness
  • Medical escort
  • Rapid response time
  • Comprehensive service range

Cons

  • Seasonal limitations

Attentive, caring, and professional service

“Evercare health Ltd, have been absolutely amazing sourcing a carer to look after my mother with only 3 hour notice, to care for my elderly mother in  hospital. They found two carers to look after my mother, both were attentive, caring and absolutely  brilliant. This company have gone above and beyond, to help with my needs. I highly recommend Evercare health Ltd, they are professional and efficient.”

Caring, reliable, and professional

“Evercare provided my father with a much needed option for at-home physical therapy in HK, at a reasonable cost. With my father’s mobility severely impaired, it gave me great peace of mind to know that he would have the benefit of a professional, trained therapist visiting him at home regularly. Most importantly, my father received wonderful, caring and reliable service, and I was given updates and Evercare were always available to answer any questions I might have about his progress. I am very grateful to Evercare for the level of care they provided, and would recommend them without hesitation.”

Touch Home for the Elderly Limited is a small but well-kept facility in Kowloon. It’s located in Comfort Mansion on Canton Road, which makes visiting easy for families.

It operates as a private home, which might explain why some clients feel the care is more personal than in larger public institutions.

To see this in practice, I spoke with one of their clients. She mentioned that the staff takes time to understand each resident’s routine and preferences, which seems to make daily life more comfortable.

I also noticed that the home is well-equipped with practical amenities like air-conditioning, electronic rehabilitation beds, and oxygen inhalers. It also has pressure relief air mattresses and walking aids.

Touch Home is accredited under government schemes like the Enchanted Bought Place Scheme (EBPS), the Nursing Home Place Purchase Scheme (NHPPS), and the Residential Care Service Voucher (RCSV) for the Elderly.

These programs help residents secure subsidized spots, guarantee places in private homes, and provide financial support. This means their services are more accessible to a wider range of residents.

However, having only 6 to 10 staff members can make it harder to handle multiple needs at the same time.

Pros

  • Government-recognized provider
  • Comprehensive facilities
  • Central location
  • Operates as a private home
  • Personalized care

Cons

  • Small staff size

Patient and attentive

“Thank you girls for helping my mom! Special thanks to Miss Xu for being so patient in taking my mother to do activities and games! Extremely grateful! I hope every friend and staff in the hospital is happy and healthy! !”

Cheerful Court Care Home feels like a practical, no-frills option for seniors.

It’s run by the Hong Kong Housing Society, which gives the impression of a well-managed, mission-driven environment rather than a purely commercial operation.

The home offers a surprising range of amenities. There’s a clinic on-site, a small library, a salon, and even parking within the estate. These amenities make life easier for residents and visitors alike.

One feature that stood out is the private garden with a reflexology path and a little gardening area. While this may seem small, it can make a noticeable difference in residents’ daily enjoyment.

Rooms vary from single to six-bed setups, all with medical beds and private bathrooms, giving families options depending on their needs.

Cheerful Court also leans heavily on its multidisciplinary care team. Nurses, social workers, physiotherapists, and occupational therapists are all involved in residents’ care.

They also have access to rehabilitation services, including cognitive training and stroke recovery programs.

It seems like the kind of place where there’s a genuine focus on keeping seniors active and supported.

However, the facility’s design and furnishings are quite basic. It gets the job done, but it might feel a bit plain for families hoping for a more modern or stylish environment.

Pros

  • Operated by Hong Kong Housing Society
  • Accredited under the RCSV scheme
  • Comprehensive facilities
  • Multidisciplinary care team
  • Rehabilitation services
  • Features a private garden
  • Spacious accommodation

Cons

  • Basic facility design

Dependable, trustworthy

Joyous Circle Elderly Care by HKHS comes up often in conversations and recommendations, so I decided to look at it. I included them on my list because they appear well-organized and thoughtfully managed for seniors.

Part of what convinced me is that it’s operated by the Hong Kong Housing Society, a reputable non-profit organization. This adds a sense of trust and reliability to the house.

In terms of services, they offer residential care and rehabilitation programs, including specialized support for residents with dementia.

Beyond the basic services, what stood out to me was their holistic approach. The multidisciplinary team includes physiotherapists, nurses, and social workers. They focus on supporting residents’ physical, mental, and social well-being.

The environment also reflects this focus. The facility is modern, with electrically-operated beds, private bathrooms, and interiors that are aesthetically pleasing.

On top of that, they use gerontechnology such as bed exit monitoring devices and digital nurse stations.

That said, the application process requires a non-refundable $2,000 assessment fee for care level evaluation. While the facility looks well-managed and innovative, this upfront cost could be a consideration for families on a budget.

Pros

  • Operated by HKHS
  • Comprehensive services
  • Holistic care approach
  • Multidisciplinary team
  • Modern facilities
  • Innovative technology
  • Winner of Day Care Centre – Facility of the Year

Cons

  • Requires a non-refundable assessment fee

After talking to a few families who had experience with local nursing homes, Scenic Resort really impressed me. The residents seemed genuinely well cared for, and the staff appeared attentive to both physical and emotional needs.

They also offer a comprehensive range of services. Residents have access to professional nursing care, rehabilitation programs, and dementia support. Recreational activities, counseling, and respite services are also available.

The 24-hour personal care reinforces their focus on keeping residents comfortable and enjoying a leisurely routine.

The facility itself is located in Oi Tung Estate, Shau Kei Wan. Its central location also adds convenience and makes it easy for families to visit.

I also learned that they’re accredited by the Social Welfare Department, which provides reassurance that standards and regulations are being closely followed.

That said, the room options are fairly basic, with only twin-bed and 5-bed setups. For families looking for more private accommodations, this could be a drawback.

Pros

  • Operated by St. James’ Settlement
  • Comprehensive care services
  • Provides 24-hour holistic personal care services
  • Convenient Location
  • Accredited facility

Cons

  • Basic room options

Excellent environment

“Just wanna have a warm sharing, this nursing home excels in every aspect, including the environment, staff attitude and quality of care, making our family feel very reassured and at ease. 😊”

Reassuring quality of care

“The staff are very patient and caring, they care about the needs of the elderly and have close communication with the family members. It’s very good.”
