Experience the Holiday Like Never Before at the 10 Best Christmas Markets in Hong Kong
One December evening, I promised myself I’d finish Christmas shopping in one market. By the end, I’d circled Causeway Bay three times, bought a Santa-shaped cookie cutter I didn’t need, and still forgot my cousin’s gift. Classic.
The Holiday season in Hong Kong can be stressful—crowded streets, last-minute gift panic, and a million stalls calling your name.
But don’t worry! I’ve rounded up Christmas markets in Hong Kong that actually make festive shopping exciting, hassle-free, and full of holiday cheer.
Stanley Market

Location: Stanley New St
Operating hours:
- Monday to Sunday: 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Stanley Market has this laid-back seaside vibe that makes browsing feel more like a stroll than a shopping trip.
You’ll still see plenty of stalls with trinkets and souvenirs, but what stood out to me were the small shops tucked between them. Some sell silk scarves, others with hand-painted
ceramics you don’t really find in bigger malls.
It’s also not hectic like other Christmas markets in Hong Kong. You can actually pause, chat with vendors, and even grab a snack from one of the nearby cafes before diving back in.
Pro tip: Bring both cash and cards. Some stalls accept only digital payment or cards, and some only cash. |
Fa Yuen Street Market

Location: Fa Yuen St, Mong Kok
Operating hours:
- Monday to Sunday: 12:00 PM – 11:00 PM
Fa Yuen Street Market isn’t the kind of polished Christmas market you’d see in a mall. It’s more about variety and bargains.
Around the holidays, a lot of the stalls switch things up with lights, small decorations, and gift items you can grab without spending too much. You’ll see everything from keychains and scarves to quirky toys that make easy stocking stuffers.
I ended up buying a set of patterned socks here once, and it actually worked out as a last-minute gift.
There’s also a good amount of food around, so you can snack while you shop. It does get busy, but that’s part of the fun.
Just don’t expect anything super curated. It’s more of a dig-through-until-you-find-something-cool kind of place.
Pro tip: Bargaining is expected here, so don’t be shy about haggling a little. |
Temple Street Night Market

Location: Temple St, Jordan
Operating hours:
- Monday to Sunday: 2:00 PM – 11:00 PM
Template Street Night Market turns into one of the better bargain spots for holiday gifts.
You’ll find stalls selling trinkets, novelty t-shirts, watches, and small accessories. There are also lots of local handicrafts, which can be great gifts.
During Christmas, many vendors bring in festive decorations, Santa-themed knick-knacks, and lights to dress up their booths.
The food adds to the experience too. I had a simple claypot rice dinner here before wandering the stalls again.
Pro tip: Go after dark, around 7-8 pm. The decorations are already lit and stalls are fully operating, but the crowd isn’t that big yet. |
Happy Valley Weekend Market

Location: 16 Min Fat St, Happy Valley
Operating hours:
- Monday to Friday: Closed
- Saturday & Sunday: 10:30 AM – 6:30 PM
Happy Valley Weekend is set up in Happy Valley at 16 Min Fat Street every weekend.
During the Christmas period, the market gets more festive. Vendors bring in gifts like scented candles, natural skincare products, small home decor, and handmade accessories. It’s a good place to find thoughtful but not overpriced gifts.
I once picked up a hand-sewn tote bag here for my nieces. They ended up using it for school, which made me feel like I’d found something both useful and personal.
Pro tip: Get there early before lunch. Stalls aren’t fully stocked or as busy, but you get first pick. |
Sham Shui Po Toy Street
Media from vming2004
Location: Fuk Wing St, Sham Shui Po
Operating hours:
- Monday to Sunday: 10:30 AM – 8:00 PM
Sham Shui Po Toy Street is exactly what it sounds like—a stretch filled with toy shops and street stalls.
Around Christmas, it gets even busier since a lot of vendors bring in festive toys, holiday decorations, and small gadgets. It’s not fancy, but it’s one of those places where you can find something for kids without spending too much.
I bought a set of puzzle games here last year for my nephews, and they actually played with them longer than the bigger, pricier toys they got.
It can get crowded, but it’s worth it if you want budget-friendly gifts for kids.
Pro tip: Go earlier in the day since afternoons get packed, and bring small bills because many shops don’t take cards. |

Operating hours:
- Monday to Friday: 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM
- Saturday to Sunday: Closed
Tong Chong Street Market in Taikoo Place is known more for food than anything else, and during Christmas, it leans into that even more.
You’ll find stalls with fresh-baked bread, locally roasted coffee, and artisanal chocolates. There are also some seasonal treats like mulled wine or spiced cookies.
Last year, I grabbed a box of gingerbread cookies and some small jars of jam for my friends.
The vibe is relaxed, and it’s good for wandering after work or on a weekend morning.
Pro tip: Come hungry and plan to eat there since the food is the highlight. |
K11 MUSEA

Operating hours:
- Monday to Sunday: 10:00 AM – 10:00 PM
K11 MUSEA’s “Christmas Village Pop-up” is on the 6th floor (Sculpture Park + Kunsthalle) and features over 50 brands, local & international.
You’ll find stalls with artisanal jewellery, festive decorations, and chocolates & snacks. If you’re looking for lifestyle gifts, the market offers a selection that feels a bit more curated than other Christmas markets in Hong Kong.
What I like is that it balances the fancy and the accessible. I once bought a scented candle & a small jewellery piece here for friends.
The backdrop is also quite impressive. The lights, the large Christmas tree, and the Dior Ball of Dreams setup make the place feel festive without being overloaded.
Pro tip: Head to the outdoor deck after shopping to take a break and enjoy the harbor view. It’s especially nice at night with all the lights. |
The Mills

Location: The Mills, 45 Pak Tin Par St, Tsuen Wan

Operating hours:
- Monday to Sunday: 10:00 AM – 10:00 PM
The Mills sets up its own Christmas market every December, and it feels different from the usual mall holiday fairs.
Instead of just rows of shops, you’ll find local artisans selling handmade gifts, eco-friendly décor, and snacks. The atrium is dressed up with yarn Christmas trees and quirky displays that make it feel festive without being over the top.
I joined the Christmas Pet Scarf Sewing Workshop when I went, and it turned out to be a nice break from just browsing stalls. I picked up some simple sewing skills, designed a scarf, and embroidered my dogs’ names on them.
Pro tip: Plan to spend at least an hour here. Browse the stall, then join one of the workshops so you don’t just shop but also take home something you made yourself. |
Citygate Outlets

Location: 20號 Tat Tung Rd, 大嶼山
Contact: +85221092933
Operating hours:
- Monday to Sunday: 10:00 AM – 10:00 PM
Citygate Outlets usually draws people in for discounted fashion and sportswear, but around Christmas, the place gets an extra layer of charm.
You’ll spot pop-ups with gift sets, decorations, and seasonal snacks alongside the outlet deals.
When I went, I grabbed a set of holiday mugs and some tea blends that worked perfectly as small gifts. It was nice having the regular outlets and seasonal stalls in one spot, so I didn’t have to plan another trip.
The space is pretty big, so it never feels too crowded. Also, being right next to the airport makes it a handy stop if you’re flying in or out during the holidays.
Pro tip: Check their event calendar ahead of time since they usually run limited-time Christmas workshops and photo spots. |
Yau Ma Tei Jade Hawker Bazaar
Media from xplorewmee
Location: G/F, 251 Shanghai St, Yau Ma Tei
Contact: +85223021322
Operating hours:
- Monday to Sunday: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Yau Ma Tei Jade Hawker Bazaar isn’t the first place that comes to mind for Christmas shopping, but it’s surprisingly a good pick if you’re after something a little different.
Most of the stalls are run by jade traders. Around the holidays, they put out more small charms, pendants, and bracelets that can easily double as thoughtful gifts.
I bought a couple of jade keychains here last year to give to my family, and they jokingly told me they would have good luck this year. The sellers explained the meaning behind each piece, which made the gifts feel more personal.
What I like is how relaxed the market feels compared to other Christmas markets in Hong Kong. You can take your time browsing and still end up with something that carries a nice story.
Pro tip: Don’t be afraid to ask politely about the meaning behind a piece. It makes the shopping feel more special. |
