The 12 Best English Breakfast Places in Hong Kong That Stole My Heart

From steaming dumplings to stir-fried noodles, Hong Kong has a way of spoiling us with food choices. But every now and then, especially on a lazy Monday, I find myself craving something hearty and comforting.

And what’s a better option than a classic English breakfast!

From trendy spots in Central to cozy cafes tucked away in the mid-levels, Hong Kong is rich with options. I’ve been to these places myself, not just once but multiple times across the years. After all, places made me fall in love again and again.

Maybe you’ll find a new favorite here too? See this list of the best English breakfast spots in Hong Kong to get your new set of must-visit!

1. Oolaa Central

Address: G/F, 28 Stanley St, Central

Contact Details: +852 2796 6988

Price: $$

Whether it’s a heavy or light breakfast, Oolaa Central has your back. It’s a famous spot that’s perfect for small groups, especially for those who want to enjoy brunch on a budget. And yes, it’s packed, so a reservation is a must!

For their hearty plates, I definitely love their Oolaa’s Big Breakfast option. This one has all the elements of a signature English breakfast. It includes 2 eggs with pork sausages, baked beans, mushrooms, and 2 sourdough toast.

If you’re leaning on the lighter side, consider their avocado toast or fresh food salad. I also like their stack of 3 pancakes. The texture is perfect, and it’s topped with chopped fruit, strawberry compote, and maple syrup.

Pro Tip: Oolaa Central has various locations in HK. If you want to enjoy a venue that’s relatively less crowded, you can drop by their location in Kennedy Town.

2. FINEPRINT

Address: Fineprint, 38 Peel St, Central

Contact Details: +852 5503 6880

Price: $$

If you’re hanging out in Central, you can’t miss FINEPRINT. It’s a small place (there’s only about 14 seats on a large, communal table), but it has the perfect ambiance for a quiet breakfast where you can squeeze in some reading time.

I liked their smoked salmon and avocado sourdough toast. It’s a decent size and tastes perfect with a cup of tea. The toast itself doesn’t have an overpowering taste, which I like. If I want a bit more texture, I often just get mac and cheese toasties to match.

But if you prefer that big hit of flavor, their ricotta toast may be a better choice – the ricotta is generously portioned, and with a drizzle of honey on top, it’s ideal for those who love both sweet and savory breakfasts.

Pro Tip: You’ll be given a number, and you need to find your own seat. No staff member will explain the process to you, but if you feel like you’ve been waiting over 10 minutes for your order, we recommend following up at the counter.

3. Australia Dairy Company

Address: 47號 Parkes St, Jordan,

Contact Details: +852 2730 1356

Price: $

There’s no local or tourist who wouldn’t know about the Australian Dairy Company. The place is famous for its milk pudding, scrambled eggs, and club sandwiches. You also can’t miss their macaroni soup, which is usually what people line up for.

Here’s something to keep in mind, though: the place isn’t known for top-notch customer service. Servers appear like they’re always in a rush, and English is limited (it’s what you can expect at a typical local HK eatery – it’s not necessarily a tourist spot).

But if you’re willing to set these limitations aside, the food is worth it! The breakfast set is all you need: scrambled eggs, toast, macaroni soup, and HK milk tea. The portions are small, but the set is already a lot of food – you’re sure to get full in one order!

Pro Tip: If possible, come by yourself! It will be hard to enjoy food here with friends. But if you don’t mind being seated apart, then it’s a great experience nonetheless.

4. R&R Bagels

Website: https://www.randrbagels.com/

Address: 28 Li Yuen St W, Central

Contact Details: +852 2178 5168

Price: $$

Bet the name already gave it away – R&R Bagels is that spot for some of the city’s most delicious bagels. The options are medium-sized – chewy and warm enough to enjoy with a salad or a side of tomato soup.

There are many flavours to choose from, but the maple bacon and egg is unbeatable for me. The fillings are generous, with flavors perfectly balancing each other.

To complete your meal, I recommend getting coffee afterward. Don’t have it at the same time as the bagel – I realized the tastes come through better if you just enjoy the meal on its own!

Pro Tip: The place is hidden in an alley, so it can be hard to find. But the place is clean and well-maintained – sitting outside is a great way to enjoy the ambiance!

6. The Coffee Academïcs (Mong Kok)

Address: Shop 13, 4/F, Langham Place, 8 Argyle St, Mong Kok

Contact Details: +852 3751 7267

Price: $$

If you’re like me, who’s obsessed with good coffee, you can’t miss The Coffee Academïcs. I have a couple of favorites here, including their cappuccino and decaf flat white. The aroma is good and just perfect to kickstart your day.

For something stronger, you can opt for their dark roast. However, I prefer mine with milk – they use Colombian bean Swiss water, so the aromatic profile really shines through. The sweetness is also just right.

Now, food! The slow-cooked chicken breast is the best choice, as the red spices just bring out the taste and tenderness of the meat. It’s small, though, so I’d often get an acai bowl too (portions are small as well, you’d finish it in just a few scoops).

Pancakes are okay – I find them a bit soggy, but the sweetness is just perfect. They match any of the coffees as well, so they might be the perfect pair.

Pro Tip: Are you staying at the Cordis Hotel? This cafe is in Lanham Place, which is just across the bridge connecting to the hotel. This is the quickest place to drop by for a quick morning coffee.

7. N1 Coffee & Co. (Tsim Sha Tsui)

Address: 34 Mody Rd, Tsim Sha Tsui

Contact Details: +852 3568 4726

Price: $

Breakfast that won’t break the bank? Here’s your answer! For only $88, you can get a full English breakfast. This option comes with hot dogs, smoked salmon, baked beans, scrambled eggs, and 2 pieces of bacon.

A pot of English tea is only $40. Get it if you’re with a small group!

If you want a lighter breakfast, I recommend getting a poached egg on avocado toast. This is a medium portion, so you may not get full after just one order. An order of a smoothie will usually do the trick.

Service is slow, so you may want to skip this if you’re in a rush. But overall, it’s a nice place to sit down for a slow morning.

Pro Tip: Your platinum cards have no power here – bring cash! And yes, it’s called N1 because this spot is right next to the N1 exit from the MTR. If you’re doing activities that day, it’s a nice thing to keep in mind.

8. The Lounge & Bar | The Ritz-Carlton

Website: https://www.loungeandbarhongkong.com/

Address: International Commerce Centre (ICC), 102/F, The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong, 1 Austin Rd W, Tsim Sha Tsui

Contact Details: +852 2263 2270

Price: $$$

Fancy a fancy breakfast? There’s no better way to enjoy that than enjoying your morning at the Ritz. And no, you don’t need to be a hotel guest to enjoy some time here.

There are no meal sets, and everything is mostly à la carte. If you’re strictly here for breakfast, though, their buffet won’t disappoint. There’s a great variety for everyone: sunny-side-ups, strips of crispy bacon, mushrooms, soups, and more.

If you’re coming to this location, you can’t miss the window seating. You’ll be treated to beautiful views of the harbour, which makes the money even more worth it.

Pro Tip: Enjoy the breakfast buffet and consider booking a table for dinner. The place just comes more alive in the evening. Much more romantic too!

Brick Lane keeps it simple with their all-day breakfast. For their full English breakfast option, the food options are awesome. It’s as authentic as it can get with hash browns, toast, and Parma ham eggs Benedict.

The sausage initially looked a little off to me, but the taste was wonderful – it’s not too salty, so it won’t drown out the taste of your coffee. The bread is perfectly fluffy too, and best enjoyed with a spread of butter.

Meals come with free soup, which was pretty good but isn’t something you’ll miss. I recommend you match things with their Irish Coffee instead, which is simply downright delicious.

Pro Tip: You can sit indoors or outdoors. Furry friends are welcome in their patio area. Bring them with you if you want to spend some time together. Also, if you’re having a hard time finding it, it’s close to the K11 MTR exit.

10. Brunch Club & Supper (Causeway Bay)

Address: 1st Floor, 13 Leighton Rd, Causeway Bay

Contact Details: +852 2890 2125

So the Brunch Club is more ideal for brunch, but nobody’s stopping us from enjoying a full breakfast here anyway. I find this to be an ideal spot whenever I just want to enjoy something light but still generous.

The all-day breakfast comes with different breads. I love the croissants. They’re buttery, but may not be ideal for those who want a lighter pastry. Eggs are cooked perfectly, with a nice crispiness on the edges.

For a bigger portion, you can get their eggs Benedict with smoked salmon and avocado. With Parmesan, everything just bursts with flavor. If something sweeter is more of your thing, the waffles and ice cream will win your heart.

Pro Tip: If you’re leaning towards those brunch options, you can’t miss their steak and eggs. Get it with either orange juice or their good morning smoothie. Finish it off with your yogurt and you’re all set.

11. Blend & Grind Mid-Levels

Website: https://blendandgrind.com/

Address: Shop A2, 1 Princes Terrace Central, Mid-Levels

Contact Details: +852 6361 2713

Price: $$

Hey, we all love a cute breakfast place, right? If that’s your thing, Blend & Grind is the perfect spot. It’s tucked away in the mid-levels, with cute decor that just has a nice summery feel to it.

The service is fast, with wait times of about 5 to 10 minutes, so it’s great for those rush-hour mornings. The eggs Benedict and steak sandwich are great starters – best enjoyed if you have it outside on their patio.

I also love their acai bowls, toasts, and eggs. The portions are a bit smaller, so I usually order at least 2 of any. And to complete the meal, I often get the matcha latte as it has a nice, strong flavor. You can tell it’s authentic.

Pro Tip: It’s a nice place to bring your friends to! Service isn’t rushed, and the servers are friendly. If you want a break from the typical, fast-paced dining in Central, this is a good spot.

12. Café Landmark

Address: Shop 107 – 108 , 1 / F, 15 Queen’s Road Central, Central

Contact Details: +852 2526 4200

Price: $$$

There are many things to enjoy at this restaurant, but if I had to pick a few, I’d start with their pancakes. The place specializes in American flapjack-style buttermilk pancakes, so you’re in for a treat. Soft and fluffy, it’s a great way to start your meal.

Their breakfast menu options include juice, toast, croissant, or raisin bread. It also comes with unlimited tea or coffee with your main dish. However, their mocha is still pretty unbeatable as a signature drink – you just can’t miss it!

The Pain Perdu is also good with two slices of caramelized bananas. This one is on the heartier side, though, so you may not be able to enjoy other dishes if you get this.

Pro Tip: This premium dining spot is also known for its high tea set for two. Consider adding it to your list as well if you’re looking into afternoon tea spots.
