Top 5 Immigration Lawyers in Hong Kong

How We Picked

Years of experience – We chose law firms and immigration lawyers in Hong Kong that have spent years in the field. This is because years worked in the field of law not only translates to the number of clients served but also better knowledge and experience.
Range of services – We chose lawyers and law firms that do more than just give advice. Those in this list also provide contract draftings, employee immigration, and immigration assistance to multiple countries.
Customer satisfaction – This category is based on the interviews we conducted of their previous clients as well as the experience we had in dealing with the lawyers.

Pros

  • Wide range of immigration services
  • Offers services for moving to numerous countries
  • Long opening hours

Cons

  • Not all visas are available for different countries

Paul Bernadou & Co. is a law firm that practices immigration law in Hong Kong.

One of the law firm’s strengths comes from its years of experience, especially that of its namesake.

Asa brief background, Mr. Bernadou holds a BA and an LLB degree from Melbourne University. He is also a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Victoria and of the High Court of Australia.

Although Mr. Paul Bernadou moved to Hong Kong and established the firm in 1993, he has been handling migration law since 1985. This length of experience seems to have given him and his team an edge when it comes to helping customers out.

What we like about Paul Bernadou & Co. is that their immigration assistance encompasses multiple countries. The firm offers immigration assitance for clients who want to go to Australia, Canada, Ireland, Greece, and other nations.

However, it may be important to note that the firm’s range of services for one country does not apply for others. For example, while Paul Bernadou & Co. can help you get a Skilled Visa for Australia, they can only help you get an investor visa in Ireland.

Aside from helping you secure Visas, Paul Bernadou & Co. can assist in local and overseas studies, investments in properties and projects abroad, and introductions to foreign businesses.

We had the chance to talk to their previous clients, and we can agree when they said that Mr. Bernadou and the team are professional and responsive. Their clients also noted how reliable the team is and how they made the entire application process easier.

Overall, we believe that Paul Bernadou & Co. is a great match for those who wish to work, study, or invest in properties abroad.

Pros

  • Helps in immigrating to multiple countries
  • Offers free consultancy

Cons

  • Specializes only in Canadian immigration
  • Reports of being unresponsive

Simard & Associates is a law firm with two immigration lawyers in Hong Kong.

One of the strengths of the law firm isin the experience that the partners have. Mathieu Simard, the director, has been practicing law since the early 2000s while Alexandre Lescouflair has over a decade of experience.

The two lawyers also studied and received their degrees from Canada before moving to Hong Kong, which gives them an advantage over others when it comes to knowledge of Canadian immigration laws.

As such, it comes as no surprise that the firm specializes in giving advice and assistance to those looking to migrate to Canada.

Simard & Associates can help hopefuls get a work permit to Canada through the country’s numerous programs. The firm can also assist in investor and entrepreneur immigration.

In addition, the firm can also assist locals in their desire to move to the US as well as Greece, Cyprus, Portugal, and other European nations. However, the services that Simard & Associates can give for these countries are limited.

Another thing we like about the firm is that they can provide a free over-the-phone consultation, in which they will assess your application’s chances of approval.

We had the chance to talk to some of the firm’s previous clients, and most of them were happy with the service they received.

However, we heard of a few complaints. Although we never had a bad communications with the firm, there are some clients that said that Simard & Associates take some time to respond to queries.

Pros

  • Over 2 decades in the industry
  • Clients note quick and professional response

Cons

  • Immigration law services are limited

Oldham, Li, & Nie, or OLN, is a law firm in Hong Kong that handles a multitude of different fields. With 40 lawyers and over 20 years in practice, the law firm seems to have enough resources and experience to provide you with sound immigration advice.

It may be important to note that despite practicing in different legal fields, the firm can only offer business immigration services.

This means that their advice and assistance are limited to obtaining and extending work visas, and procuring visitors’ visa, spousal and dependent visa, and business investment visa.

As such, we believe that OLN is only a great match for those looking to work or invest in any country abroad.

However, we believe that they handle these highly specific cases well. This belief in their capacity to provide great assistance to businessmen and corporate workers is further solidified when you look into their lawyers and their other services.

In addition to giving business and employee immigration advice, OLN’s team also provides domestic and cross-border tax advice, contract drafting services, and numerous other legal services for both local and foreign business and migration issues.

According to their previous clients, OLN’s lawyers are highly responsive, efficient and professional. Some even note that they can schedule multiple calls at a moment’s notice.

With that in mind, Oldham, Li, and Nie may be a great match for you if you are an employer or employee in urgent need of business and employment immigration services.

Pros

  • Long opening hours
  • Transparent with information on website
  • Wide range of immigration-related services
  • Offers legal representation

Cons

  • Only 2 lawyers to handle all cases

Littlewoods, Solicitors is a law firm with 2 lawyers, Brian Littlewood and Nicholas Millar. The former is admitted as a solicitor in Hong Kong, Englan, and Wales, and established the firm in 1997.

Despite their simple home page that some may find off-putting, Littlewoods, Solicitors is a law firm that is worth considering in our opinion.

This is mostly because of their biggest strength, which is a wide range of immigration-related legal services.

Much like other law firms, Littlewoods can provide advice to employers and employees looking to obtain and extend their working visas. However, the firm can also provide advice for issues related to the right of abode, dependent or prolonged visitors’ visas, investment visas, and others.

Littlewoods can also provide legal representation for overstayers, people that commit immigration offences, people who want to appeal their visa refusal, and  individuals and companies that are suspected of contravening regulations.

As such, we believe that Littlewoods, Solicitors should be considered by those who require not only immigration law advice, but also individuals and corporations who need representation in court and litigations.

To get more insight, we asked the firm’s previous clients regarding their experience. Most of them took note of how professional and courteous the staff are, which coincides with how we were treated during our visit.
