The team is led by Kalam Chu, a renowned makeup artist who trained in prestigious institutions in Hong Kong, London, and New York. Kalam and her team’s extensive experience was evident in how booked and busy they are. 

The team’s a popular pick for fashion magazines like Marie Claire, Elle, and Cosmopolitan. They have also handled fashion and creative shoots by Valentino, Gucci, Fendi, and more.   

We recommend Kalamaekup for brides who prefer a soft glam that’s lightweight and long-lasting. The team is really good at natural, fresh, and glowy looks tailored to highlight the client’s features.

Sadly, though, we noticed that their wedding packages only include around two to four makeup changes for the bride. 

The early arrival and overtime charges are also quite hefty. For example, if you require a makeup artist to do your makeup before or at 6 AM, you’ll need to pay an additional HKD 2,080 per artist. Meanwhile, overtime is charged at HKD 1,080 per 30 minutes.

We included Leticia Bishop on this list mostly because of her versatility. Many of her previous clients praised her for nailing makeup looks tailored to their preferences. A quick scroll through her portfolio on her website can attest to this. 

Whether you’re after a simple and understated glam or flashy and red carpet-ready makeup, Leticia has all bases covered. 

Despite being fairly new in the industry, she has already mastered the art of high-fashion and editorial looks. In fact, she had already worked with major brands like Calvin Klein, Elle, and Volkswagen.  

Leticia also accepts makeup services for editorial shoots across continents, including New York, Paris, Sydney, and more. 

Simply put, Leticia Bishop is a great pick if you want a makeup artist with an impressive range.      

The only thing we’d like to note is that Leticia currently doesn’t have her own studio. She primarily comes to clients’ homes or hotels, so you’ll have to cover her travel fees on top of her service costs.  

This can also be a drawback if you don’t have a convenient place to go for makeup trial sessions.

The Makeup Room is known in Wan Chai for having a big team of makeup artists that can deliver subtle to full-glam transformations for various special occasions. 

Plus, for those seeking longer-lasting solutions, they also have licensed aestheticians who specialize in semi-permanent makeup.  

Another service clients recommend is their specialized men’s makeup. This is great for men who are new to makeup and just want a clean, masculine look without it appearing overdone.

One thing to note, though, is their booking policy—all paid bookings are considered final. This means there are no refunds for cancellations or no-shows.

Since 2014, She Makeup Studio has been a go-to spot for hair and makeup services. Its team of makeup artists is known to maneuver both romantic wedding makeup and creative shoot looks.     

Sara, the chief stylist, is well-versed in elegant and soft looks. Her style is praised by brides who prefer a timeless bridal look, with emphasis on fluttery lashes and romantic eyeshadow shades.

Another big plus for us is that their makeup rates are quite affordable, with hair and makeup packages starting at HKD 2,800.   

That said, they don’t have a physical studio yet. All MUAs are only available by appointment. This also means that all initial consultations or inquiries are handled over the phone or online.
