HKMA is led by Ray Tsoi. The course structure and teaching style are built around classical training, especially piano and orchestral instruments.

Students often mentioned how well the school prepares students for ABRSM exams and long-term music study. 

They pretty much focus on group learning and orchestras. From what we’ve heard, kids start playing with others early on.

Kids build confidence and get used to performing with a group from some of their beginner programs. 

There are tiered programmes based on ABRSM levels. Once students hit grades 3 and above, the orchestra becomes a regular part of training.

For more advanced students, the Pro Orchestra and higher-level courses combine individual lessons, theory, aural training, and ensemble work

Many also described the instructors as experienced and knowledgeable. The fact that HKMA brings in guest coaches from well-known orchestras also gives the school a more professional level.

Their instructors have solid academic and professional backgrounds too, with experience in international orchestras and festivals.

Their real-world experience shows in how lessons are tailored to each student’s goals. From what we’ve heard, they’re great at breaking down challenging songs into manageable steps.

We also noticed that their curriculum is thoughtful and age-appropriate. Some start as early as 15 months with Musikgarten-inspired classes that combine singing, movement, and rhythm.

As children grow, the program evolves into ensembles and group lessons. 

One standout feature is the monthly performances at top venues in Hong Kong. These gigs give students real stage experience and help them build skills naturally, without the stress of exam preparation.

On the other hand, it may not be the right fit for those seeking classical instruments and traditional programs. 

Sol Passion Music Limited is focused on electronic music and DJing, which already makes them unique.

The courses are carefully structured. They start with basic DJ skills and move up to advanced modules that cover storytelling through genre-specific techniques and professional production.

We also loved that they offer specialized one-on-one or two-on-one sessions for people who want to go deeper into production, music, or niche styles.

Most of the instructors here are active DJs, producers, and musicians working in Hong Kong’s club scene. 

The guidance comes straight from people who are actually doing it in the real world.

Based on student feedback, the instructors are hands-on, and the courses are practical. The school focuses on industry-standard tools like Ableton Live, so students get real experience with the software they would use professionally.

Their multilingual support is also a big advantage. They can speak English, Mandarin, and Hindi, making them accessible to a wide range of students.

However, they might not be suitable for anyone looking to learn traditional instruments since they don’t offer that here.
