The Only 5 Best Prenatal Yoga Studios in Hong Kong That Mothers Gave an A+

  • Instructor Experience - We chose prenatal yoga classes with instructors who have a minimum of 5 years of experience and hold certifications specifically in prenatal yoga.
  • Safety and Comfort - We picked studios equipped with at least 3 types of supportive props, such as bolsters, blocks, and straps. This setup helps accommodate various pregnancy stages and ensures comfort and safety during each session.
  • Class Customization -  We selected classes that offer personalized modifications, with instructors able to cater to at least 3 different stages of pregnancy.
  • Convenience -  The top prenatal yoga classes are located within a 5-kilometer radius of major residential areas and offer at least 5 different class times per week.
  • Holistic Approach -  We looked for classes that incorporate a holistic approach. They should offer at least 2 additional practices, such as mindfulness, breathing techniques, and relaxation exercises.

We know how daunting it is to have a literal person growing inside you. And if you’re like most moms-to-be, finding the right prenatal yoga studio is just as crucial as picking out baby names. Make one mistake, and you’ll have some serious worries down the line.

So, in the spirit of making your life easier, we took it upon ourselves to solve this very dilemma.

We reached out to a squad of moms who – let’s just say – are as knowledgeable about yoga studios as they are about their baby’s formula milk. After an intense round of voting, we’ve narrowed it down to the final prenatal yoga studios in Hong Kong that received a solid A+.

If you want to test the waters first, consider trying out Wellbeing Yoga. They offer a 1-month trial for each yoga class, which can help you get a gist of the course’s intensity.

Their prenatal and postnatal classes are reasonably priced at $580, including two classes and mat and reformer classes. We also liked that they have a one-on-one private class for $680, which provides a personalized experience for 60 minutes.

They also offer group classes, such as the Reformer Trial. It includes two sessions – one each of Pilates Core Group and Reformer classes – for $680. Like the other trial offers, this is valid for a month and only for new members.

While these trial offers are a fantastic way to explore different classes at Wellbeing Yoga without a long-term commitment, the no-change and no-cancellation policy can be a bit restrictive. However, the variety and quality of the classes make it a worthwhile experience.

Pros

  • Offers 1-month trial
  • Private classes available
  • Group classes available
  • Reasonable rates
  • Post-natal yoga is also available

Cons

  • Has a no-change and no-cancellation policy

We recently visited Inspire Yoga’s prenatal yoga program, and it’s one we really recommend, thanks to its instructors’ 10 years of experience.

We found their prenatal classes to be comprehensive. Its main focus is to strengthen the pelvic floor muscles and enhance breath awareness. Exercises like squats and the wide-legged child pose help with posture and leg strength.

For those nearing their third trimester, the birthing positions and bodywork discussions were invaluable. You can even have your partner join a class to learn supportive postures and breathing techniques together.

However, one downside is that the class sizes can sometimes be a bit large for a grouped class. This makes it harder to get individual attention from the instructor.

If you’re willing to pay a higher rate, it’s best to book a one-on-one class and have an instructor come to your home at your earliest convenience.

Pros

  • 10 years of experience
  • Offers different exercises for third-trimester pregnancies
  • Focuses on pelvic strength exercise
  • Offers postnatal yoga
  • Offers group classes
  • Private one-on-one class upon request

Cons

  • Group classes are big

Amazing and supportive teachers

Out of the many studios we’ve tried, we found Hikari Yoga to be the most enjoyable. This is because the 60-minute session incorporates a variety of assistive devices, making the experience both supportive and engaging.

Alongside the standard yoga mats and birthing balls, they use yoga ropes, pillows and bricks. They even have yoga wall ropes available too. All these gear complement every exercise, particularly in preparing the pelvic floor muscles for natural childbirth.

Each class is also designed to help pregnant mothers strengthen their core and improve lower body muscle strength.

The yoga wall ropes were a highlight for us. These ropes help with posture and stability, making it easier to manage common pregnancy discomforts like hunchback and shoulder pain. Some clients also told us that they found it incredibly effective in relieving lower back pain.

However, we did find the class sizes a bit large, which made it challenging to receive personalized care. Take advantage of at-home private classes if you prefer something more comfortable.

Pros

  • Offers assistive equipment
  • High-quality materials for exercises
  • Welcoming instructors
  • Offers at-home private classes
  • Offers corporate programs
  • Comprehensive use of wall ropes

Cons

  • Classes can be large

Professional and knowledgeable instructors

“I enjoy the small group yoga classes. Sarah , the instructor is very professional. Smooth flow and good knowledge to provide different yoga props and variations for each student’s need.

Especially love her wall rope yoga and wheel yoga class , really helps a lot for my back pain and tightness.”

Cozy and safe boutique

“A cosy, safe boutique yoga place especially for pregnant women. Thanks to the weekly yoga practice guided by Sarah for months, as well as the monthly pain relief in labour workshop, my vaginal childbirth was very smooth. Highly recommend to all mums and dads to be.”

What we liked about Yoga Room is their classes that focus on relaxation techniques. Their pilates classes include pelvic tilts, bridges, and cat-cow stretches. Additionally, they have lateral breathing exercises that help reduce discomfort and heartburn.

The Yoga Room also offers postnatal yoga, which is great for easing back into fitness after childbirth. The classes focus on rebuilding strength in the abdomen, back, and pelvic floor. It involves gentle core work, modified planks, and bridge poses.

Another stand-out aspect is that you can stick with them for the long term as they offer membership packages (which also give discounts on their sessions). They offer intro packs for new members, giving you discounts for 3 ($160 per class) or 8 ($110 per class) classes.

After the initial new members’ discount, you can get their unlimited membership for $20,256. But if you prefer a short-term commitment, you can book 20 to 50 classes for $3,800 to $8,000.

One complaint we heard from some students, though, is that some instructors display unprofessional attitudes during trial lessons.

Pros

  • Cozy studio
  • Focused on relaxation techniques
  • Offers postnatal yoga classes
  • Separate exercise for prenatal pilates
  • Membership packages available
  • Discounts on sessions available

Cons

  • Minor issues of unprofessionalism

Cozy yoga studio

“Cozy yoga studio with a variety of classes and instructors. There’s really a nice community feeling here!”

Compact but great facilities and amazing instructor

“Compact but great facilities, amazing instructors. I started off going to their classes during lunch as my office was nearby, but even after I’ve gone on to work in a different district I still make a point to attend classes here after work and on weekends, it’s that good!”

5. fabYOGA

Opening Hours: Monday – Sunday: 12:00 – 1:30 PM, 6:00 – 8:00 PM, 8:15 – 10:15 PM

fabYOGA won us over with its comprehensive process. Each class starts with calming guided meditation and breathing exercises, which help students ease into more challenging exercises.

We also noted their prenatal yoga and Fitball class, which incorporates Fitball exercises into the routine. Fitball helps build pelvic floor strength and release tension in the lower back and hips.

For those looking for a bit more activity, we find their prenatal flow class a great choice. It’s a medium-paced session that allows you to sweat a little more. It begins with a meditation, followed by gentle sun salutations and standing postures.

This sequence includes modified warrior poses and gentle side stretches, which strengthen and open up the body.

One thing to note is that fabYOGA doesn’t offer a free trial session. However, they have a 7-day tester package for $300, which allows you to experience their classes before committing to a full membership.

Pros

  • Offers different prenatal yoga styles
  • Offers a 7-day tester package
  • Meditation comes with each session
  • Equipment incorporated into each exercise

Cons

  • No free trials
  • Slightly more expensive than other options
