My Kitchen Review: The Best Halal Tibetan Restaurant in Hong Kong for Fresh, Authentic Tibetan Fare

Food Quality: We assessed the flavor and freshness of the dishes served. We made sure that the food was authentically Tibetan and used quality ingredients.

Halal Compliance: Marketing itself as a halal restaurant, we checked their halal certification and commitment to serving halal food.

Ambiance: We checked what the atmosphere and dining experience were like in My Kitchen. Plus points were given for cleanliness and comfort.

Customer Experience: We dove deep into customer reviews and interviewed diners to assess the service quality and overall dining satisfaction.

If you ask me, the best part of living in Hong Kong is exploring food experiences I never expected to find. Sure, we’re known for dim sum, roast goose, and Cantonese classics, but there’s more to Hong Kong than meets the eye.

I recently went on a hunt for lesser-known culinary gems and found myself in My Kitchen, a halal Tibetan restaurant serving comforting dishes that felt completely different from anything else I’ve tried in the city.

Now I’m sharing my experience with you. If you’re looking for a refreshing alternative to the usual dining options in Hong Kong, here’s my take on the most talked-about halal Tibetan restaurant.

How much does halal Tibetan food cost in Hong Kong?

My Kitchen is one of, if not the only, place in Hong Kong where diners can enjoy authentic halal Tibetan cuisine. They serve dishes inspired by traditional Tibetan cooking, with hearty, comforting classics that are relatively uncommon in the city.

The kitchen is committed to freshness above all. They use quality ingredients and cook every dish on-site on a by-order basis. You won’t get stale or cold food here.

You’ll notice that freshness immediately when you sink your teeth into their hot, handmade Tibetan momo. I chose the chicken for my protein, but you can also get it in beef/ buffalo or vegetable variations.

The wrapper was soft yet slightly chewy, achieving the perfect balance between tenderness and structure. Inside was a well-seasoned chicken filling that felt like a juicy and flavorful explosion in my mouth.

I spoke to the diners at the table next to me, and they said their veggie momos rival the dumplings in some of Hong Kong’s best vegetarian restaurants

Aside from the momos, the menu is filled with other staple Tibetan dishes. I recommend getting the Tibetan Bhalep Bread and the Spicy Chili Chana.

If you need guidance on what to order, the staff here is incredibly friendly and welcoming. They’ll help you find the best pairings and go out of their way to make sure you enjoy your meal.

The only catch is the ambiance. The restaurant focuses on giving you a homemade dining experience, so don’t expect a luxurious interior and grand furnishings here. The dining space is modest and can fill up quickly during peak hours.

The good news is you can make a reservation online through WhatsApp to secure a table. You also have the option to make take-away orders in advance and enjoy them cozied up in your Hong Kong apartment

Pros

  • Certified halal Tibetan cuisine
  • Fresh food prepared on-site and cooked to order
  • Focus on quality ingredients
  • Protein variations on most menu items
  • Friendly and welcoming customer service
  • Convenient WhatsApp accessibility for ordering and reservations

Cons

  • Modest dining space
  • Lack of seating during peak hours
