“How many days is enough to explore Hong Kong?” you might ask.

Geographically speaking, Hong Kong is compact enough that you should need only three or four days of exploration. But why rush? Seven days or preferably even longer is better if you wish to explore the popular districts and attractions that we listed above.

Reminders About Our 7-Day Hong Kong Itinerary

Before you dive into our detailed Hong Kong itinerary, please bear in mind the following:

  • All the itineraries we created assume you’ve already entered Hong Kong.
  • The budgets stated in the itineraries are just estimates. They’re ballpark figures for the overall costs of admission fees, food, fare, and other expenses of one adult for one day.
  • All the itineraries we crafted follow a 10 AM to 7 PM schedule. This is to allocate some preparation time for flight arrival and departure, as well as transportation to and from accommodation to the attraction, and vice versa.

Basic Tips to Remember When Exploring Hong Kong

  • Get an Octopus Card as soon as you land and top it up. Use it to store money for cashless payments in MTR, other public transportation, or establishments to save more.
  • Buy an e-SIM or SIM card so you don’t struggle looking for Internet access wherever you go. Purchase one in a kiosk or 7/11 near your accommodation because the ones sold in the airport are more expensive.
  • Tipping isn’t generally common in Hong Kong except in some Western-style hotels and restaurants.
  • Accommodation in Hong Kong can be expensive, so do your research and book a budget-friendly hotel in advance.
  • Book tickets for activities and attractions online, preferably before your visit, so you can skip the long queues and get discounts.
