The Best Airbnbs to Book in Hong Kong (From Luxury Suites to Budget Finds!)
Forget the expensive five-star experience. While towering hotels offer the glitz and glam, they often lack the city’s true essence.
Let’s be honest—some hotels might be nicer than others, but most are pretty much what you’d expect.
That’s why, if you’re looking for a more authentic Hong Kong experience, try living like a local by staying in an Airbnb. After all, there’s no better way to get a peek into the lives of locals than spending a night in their homes.
Are you ready to ditch the comfy confines of a hotel room? Here are our top picks of the best Airbnbs in the city.

This charming lake house in Sai Kung offers a comfortable retreat. It’s conveniently nestled near Sai Kung Country Park, showcasing the district’s rural scenery.
This Airbnb really stood out to us because of its easy access to various trails and natural attractions. We think it’s a great choice for those looking to escape the city’s hustle and enjoy outdoor adventures like hiking.
Another thing that caught our eye was its interior design—a mix of vintage French cottage and Scandinavian accents. We think this is something a guest looking for a glamping-style retreat would find interesting.
The property also boasts a range of excellent amenities. It includes a rooftop patio featuring scenic sea views and two balconies where you can enjoy alfresco dinners and leisurely breakfasts.
We also like how this space offers the comforts of a real home. You can cook up a feast in its vast kitchen, spend a relaxing bath time in the private hot tub, and watch your favorite shows in the living area.
The sleeping arrangements are equally impressive. With a king-sized bed and a queen air bed across three rooms, this lake house is an excellent choice for guests staying with families and friends.
You can even hire a full-time helper for added convenience, whether for meal preparation or housekeeping.
The only downside is that the hosts don’t allow parties or gatherings on the property. That’s why this Airbnb is not the best choice if you’re planning a getaway to celebrate a special event.
Peaceful location
“The house has breathtaking views in a peaceful setting. Hiking and nature on your doorstep. Perfect place to decompress. JB and Dora were charming, kind and full of useful information and tips. Cannot recommend the place more.”

Family-friendly accommodation
“Great place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. We live in HK and had a 2 day “staycation” here with our 3 year old and 3 month old sons. The house is very well appointed, the host is super helpful and responsive and the helper who lives at the house is also really helpful. We enjoyed the peace and quiet and the proximity (short taxi ride) to the amenities in Sai Kung. We will definitely go back. Thanks Jean-Pierre and Dora!”

This luxurious waterfront villa stands out in the quiet neighborhood of Cheng Chau. With its scenic location and modern amenities, it’s hard to find an Airbnb that matches all it offers in this part of the district.
We love that the villa retains a sense of peaceful seclusion despite being close to transportation options. Perched atop a hill, it’s just a 15-minute walk from the ferry pier.
On top of that, we like that this villa comfortably accommodates up to four people. If you plan to come with more guests, the price increases proportionally to the per-night rate of the stay.
One of our favorite features is the private jacuzzi on the adjoining outdoor terrace. It’s where you can unwind while watching breathtaking sunsets.
The patio is another highlight. It offers a vantage point where you can soak up the 180-degree vistas of Cheng Chau’s fishing village.
Housekeeping is also made easy with free daily service. If you prefer complete privacy, you can simply inform the host to opt out of this service.
Just note that there’s no dryer. You may need to rely on air-drying your clothes or using a nearby laundromat for your laundry needs.
Superb views
“Great apartment, perfect place to stay on the island. Amazing view and comfort.
The host was also very responsive and accommodating.”

Utopia is a lavish 3,000-square feet boat house excellent for those looking to break the norms and have a unique Airbnb experience.
This floating paradise truly lives up to its name. It offers luxurious amenities and stunning harbor views that create a sense of serenity.
What makes this accommodation unique—beyond being a boat house—is its versatility. It’s not just for staycations; it’s also designed for those who love to celebrate in style.
The massive karaoke system and high-definition television make it perfect for belting out your favorite tunes with friends. You can even enjoy cozy movie marathons with family.
Another big plus for us is the open-plan kitchen, dining room, and living room. We think it’s the perfect layout for mingling with people, especially if you’re coming with a large group.
The Superhost, Matthew, also provides complimentary butler and cooking services. You can get free beer and other beverages thrown in for good measure.
Plus, the butlers are genuinely accommodating. For the adventurous type, we recommend you ask them to arrange yachting and wake surfing activities for you.
Just a heads up, though: getting to the location can be a bit tricky. Be sure to inform the host ahead of time so the staff can arrange for Sampan to pick you up from the pier.
Excellent service and attention to detail
“Definitely one of the top 3 places I’ve ever stayed at during an Airbnb. The butlers were amazing with preparation, food and detail. The host was similarly amazing at being so easily available and also a master at co ordination for food and adapting to our timing changes. The location itself may have been a bit tricky to get to, but made it all the more worth it with how beautifully and tastefully it was designed with very modern appliances and overall such beautiful interiors. Definitely would come back.”

New standard for hospitality
“This airbnb experience truly set a new standard for hospitality for me and my friends 🤯Throughout the weeks of planning a surprise birthday party for my s/o, not only were Matthew and his staff responsive to all my enquiries ( from directions / F&B/ decorations / catering/ instructions/ Audio visual systems/ other entertainment options etc), they have been too kind and helpful coordinating everything that i needed in preparation for the surprise 🍾The event went flawlessly with the help of the butlers, and the experience just felt right at home 🏡, and i look forward to booking again!”

When traveling with friends or family, you’ll want to snag this three-story village house on Lantau Island for your getaway.
It’s a cozy home away from home, offering minimalist design and furnishings. While it’s nothing too fancy, it’s a great choice for those on a budget.
We like that it features four spacious rooms sleeping up to six people. It’s ideal for a small family or group of friends looking for a short getaway spot.
Located at Pui O Beach, we found this property convenient for accessing multiple beaches and hiking trails. It’s even a walking distance from lower Cheung Sha Beach.
The views are another highlight. The open living room layout lets you enjoy the stunning beach views all day long. The rooftop terrace is also great for stargazing.
However, this listing isn’t really for everyone. A five-night minimum stay makes it more suitable for those planning a longer trip.
Plus, it’s perched on a hill, which involves a bit of a climb. This could be challenging for guests with heavy luggage or mobility concerns.
Amazing views
“We had a lovely stay at Mareike’s house. This was our 2nd stay at this house in Pui O. The house is relaxing, set in a small village and great for a large family. The views are spectacular from the roof terrace. We love to wander around the local area and it’s easy to catch the bus to Mui O for food or to catch the ferry.”
Kristy, Airbnb Reviews
Accessible location
“Mareike was a marvellous host. Although her house is up a (very!) steep hill, and not easy to find, she sent full and clear instructions, and her house agent, Marilou was there to greet and lead us to her home. The house was absolutely perfect for our needs – spacious, airy, comfortable, and with plenty of places to work and to chill. The beach and surrounding countryside were stunning, especially in the evening light. Getting around was easy by bus. We would definitely come again!”

This lovely staycation home makes an ideal base for a weekend getaway in Discovery Bay. With three rooms and seven beds, there’s plenty of space for a family of six people.
Inside, the expansive living area and fully equipped kitchen add extra comfort and convenience. Step out onto the patio, and you’ll be greeted with panoramic views of the bay and nearby mountain peaks
We also like that it’s child-friendly. Its dedicated children’s playroom filled with toys and reading materials will surely keep the kids busy and entertained.
Location-wise, we found it very convenient. It’s just a five-minute walk away from ferries to Central and bus stops leading to Sunny Bay and Tung Chung MTR stations.
For foodies like us, another bonus was the nearby restaurants. On lazy days when cooking felt like a chore, we’d just head to South Plaza to explore al fresco dining options.
Just remember, you need to tidy up before you leave because cleaning services here aren’t cheap. Leaving the space unkempt could result in additional charges.
Responsive hosts
“Sam and Maria are very responsive and helpful, especially as I’m not familiar with the transport options in the DB area. Quick to attend to requests and queries.
Apartment has an awesome view of discovery bay scenery from patio.”
Jun Yi, Airbnb Reviews
Peaceful getaway
“We had a very nice stay. This place is very quiet and peaceful away from the hustle of Hong Kong Central. It had beautiful views of Hong Kong. The Ferry was very convenient to get to Central and Discovery Bay has an extensive bus system making it easy to get around (the property, to Disney and the Big Budda (Ngong Ping).”
