The 5 Best Wedding Dance Classes in Hong Kong That’ll Make Your Special Day Extra Special

Instructors: We paid attention to their teaching style, patience, and whether they gave helpful, personalised choreography tips.

Studios: We picked places where you could actually stretch out and not worry about bumping into a wall or another couple. Clean floors and enough space to spin without stress made a big difference.

Customisation: We looked for places that let couples choose their own songs and dance styles, and create choreography that fits their story.

Pricing: We also focused on places that are clear about their prices, so couples know exactly what they’re paying for from the start.

Most couples remember their first dance with a smile, but learning those steps can be more nerve-wracking than sorting out who sits next to whom at the banquet.

We’ve heard about couples still shuffling side to side after four classes. Others had instructors vanish just days before the wedding, leaving them to wing it on the spot.

That’s why picking the right wedding dance class matters—no one wants to end up as the star of a cringe-worthy IG reel.

But don’t worry about spending more time looking for classes. We’ve done the legwork and found the best wedding dance classes in Hong Kong that are actually worth your time.

Dance@Central was one of the first in Hong Kong to really zero in on wedding dances.

What stood out to us was how practical they are from the get-go. When couples reach out, the instructors don’t waste time—they ask about the song, the venue, even the wedding rundown.

This allows the instructors to really personalize the routine. One couple we talked to even said their teacher timed the dance to the exact second the banquet doors swung open.

What we also love about Dance@Central is that they’re open to mixing up dance styles. One bride told us they slipped a bit of cha-cha into a contemporary routine because it matched her dress and her vibe.

The studio is spotless, due to their excellent maintenance. The mirrors are so clean, and the floors didn’t have that end-of-day stickiness dancefloors sometimes get after back-to-back classes.

The catch? Scheduling can be a headache. They’re very popular, so you’re competing against other couples in Hong Kong.

Plus, since they only use WhatsApp, a few couples said the replies didn’t come fast.

Pros

  • Open to mixing up dance styles
  • Spotless studio
  • Practical wedding dance classes
  • Highly customized routines
  • Instructors have won world dance competitions
  • Has English-speaking instructors

Cons

  • Getting a schedule can be hard
  • Slow responses

Always encouraging and patient

“Ms. Jovie is an amazing dance teacher. I showed up as a beginner, lacking confidence, and she immediately put me at ease. She challenged me to let go of getting things right and trust my body. She spent a lot of time teaching me fundamentals so I could trust my body more to know how to move. Jovie was always encouraging and patient and gave me homework to practice between classes. She was very easy to talk to and I felt comfortable in her presence from the very first class. I would highly recommend Dance@Central and Ms. Jovie!”

– Fiona Johnson, Google Reviews

Practice is very individualized

“Group lessons are great! The practice is very individualized and the teachers accommodate all levels of learners as well as build confidence in beginner dancers. When I started, I had it in my head that there was no way I could keep up–but not only were the teachers supportive, but the girls that I danced with were exceptionally friendly. Well worth the time and money.”

Studio Soho caught our eye for its private, couple-focused setup and transparent package options.

The studio conveniently has a shower and air conditioning. One couple told us they didn’t think they’d care, but after a sweaty run-through before dinner, they were grateful for both.

Their pricing is clear from the start. The trial class fee gets deducted from each couple’s wedding dance package, which feels fair.

Plus, lessons are flexible. One couple loved being able to tailor their dance packages to mix one-hour and 1.5-hour lessons to fit their schedule when crunch time hit before the wedding.

Studio Soho also allows up to 4 people per class, which is great for couples who want to rope in their parents or bridal party.

But if the group is bigger than four, the instructors need to book a different studio, which can mean extra hassle and sometimes extra cost. One couple said things got a bit tangled when all their siblings wanted in.

Pros

  • Couple-focused setup
  • In-studio showers and aircon
  • Clear pricing
  • Up to 4 people per class
  • Flexible lessons and packages

Cons

  • Small studio
  • Not ideal for groups bigger than 4

During our first lesson we were already taught some amazing moves

“My husband and I chose a fast song for our 1st dance so we wanted to learn some basic moves to fit with a song without looking too cheesy. During our first lesson we were already taught some amazing moves by Katie which were surprisingly simple but looked very impressive on the wedding day. Most importantly Katie made lessons very fun and she is a great teacher. I really enjoyed our lessons and so happy  that we decided to learn from a professional. Our guests were absolutely blown away and it has created a long-lasting memory for us.”

HeavenlyDance made our list for its two decades of experience and the way its instructors seem to calm even the most frazzled couples. They do this by focusing on making the whole process fun, not just nailing the final performance.

They work with couples to build custom lesson packages—whether couples want a quick crash course or a slow-and-steady series. One couple told us they started with just a few sessions, but ended up adding more because the lessons felt so relaxed and personal.

Another couple who insisted they had two left feet appreciated how the instructor patiently broke down the steps for their waltz dance.

We like their instructors don’t rush. They genuinely wanted couples to feel good in their bodies. One bride even admitted that she started lessons dreading the spotlight, but by the wedding day, she said she felt like herself, just more graceful.

The honest downside? Parking is a pain. One groom said he circled for half an hour before finding a spot that didn’t require a sprint to the studio.

Pros

  • Classes are engaging
  • Skilled at calming frazzled dancers
  • Custom lesson packages
  • No rushed lessons

Cons

  • Parking is a pain

Herman Lam Dance Studio earns our recommendation mainly for its range of wedding dance programs and for the way it showcases real couples’ routines online.

We love their instructor’s willingness to tailor lessons for everyone: couples, parent-child dances, and even group routines for the whole wedding party. Watching their sample videos, we saw everything from classic ballroom to fun contemporary mashups.

We also like that their instructors take the time to understand each couple first before coordinating the wedding dance choreography.

One couple said they picked Herman Lam because the instructor took the time to learn about their relationship, then built a dance around the lyrics of their favourite song.

Plus, the pricing is reasonable for the custom packages couples can get.

The main con? Any cancellations or changes made 24 hours in advance will cost the full lesson amount. One couple had to pay in full for a missed session after a last-minute work emergency.

Pros

  • Great range of wedding dance programs
  • Instructors take time to understand couples
  • Reasonable pricing
  • Highly personalized lessons

Cons

  • Strict cancellation policy

Been very patient in teaching us difficult steps

Very professional and experienced teacher for ballroom and latin dance. We just returned to Herman to learn a new dance routine. He has been very patient in teaching us difficult steps. His choreography fits our levels perfectly. I am glad to have such a talented teacher. I would recommend Herman to everyone who loves dancing.”

Keeps the lessons fun and dynamic

“I had the very great pleasure of having private dance lessons with Herman during a recent visit to Hong Kong.  It was a wonderful experience – Herman is not only an elegant dancer but a first-class and very professional instructor.  With a strong focus on technique, Herman still keeps the lessons fun and dynamic.  I took away some very valuable pointers on being a better follower, on being more precise in my steps and movements, and on connecting with a partner – which is after all the name of the game.  Highly recommend.”

Studio 9 is the kind of place where even couples with two left feet end up looking like they belong on a dance floor.

The instructors break down each step so that even total beginners don’t feel awkward. We like that their instructors are encouraging without ever talking down to their students.

A couple admitted they started out stiff, but by the end, they were moving in sync. This is all thanks to the instructor’s advice to count out loud and match the rhythm to their favorite Salsa track.

Every lesson wraps up with a mini performance. Couples get to run through their routine in front of just the instructor, which takes the edge off any stage fright.

The only real hiccup we’ve heard was about the scheduling. One couple mentioned their lesson was bumped at the last minute due to a double booking, and they had to wait around for half an hour.

Pros

  • Breaks down dance steps
  • Good choreography advice
  • Easy routine run-throughs
  • Great for absolute beginners

Cons

  • Scheduling hiccups
