Sky Blue Bikes has been a go-to shop in Sai Wan since 2010. They offer a comprehensive repair service, including installation of supplied parts, adjustments of brakes and gears, and other basic tune-ups. 

Another feature that sets them apart is their SBB Standard Service and SBB Performance Service. These services are excellent for those who require complete routine service or major overhauls for their bikes.    

They also specialize in providing hand-built bike frames, tires and tubes, and other specialty parts. This is impressive, especially for bike upgrades and customization.   

The people behind it, owners Elissa and Sean, are also hands-on with the business. Sean is a veteran bike mechanic with over 29 years of experience patching up tires and handling custom frame designs. 

Meanwhile, Elissa, a bike fitting specialist and medical practitioner, offers bike fitting services aligned with the physiotherapy framework. She can help you optimize your riding comfort and performance.   

However, their rates are high. Some even mentioned getting charged a surcharge for follow-up service.

Bull Bike is a well-established bike store in Kowloon that specializes in bike retail, repair, and rental. 

One of the standout features of this store is its 6,000-square-foot sales floor. It boasts a massive inventory of old and new bike parts, accessories, and specialty parts from exclusive brands. 

No matter what bike components you need for repair, you’ll likely find them here. Bull Bike is also considered one of the city’s most extensive cycling and triathlon equipment shops. 

When it comes to service range, we like that they provide different levels of bike maintenance programs. You can choose from various all-inclusive service packages covering deep cleaning and adjustments to replacements and repairs for a flat fee.  

However, a major downside is that their range of repair services isn’t as diverse as other shops. We noticed that they mainly offer routine maintenance and basic bike repairs.   

Besides that, we’ve heard complaints about their poor after-sales service. If you have issues with what you purchased or need to follow up on a repair, it’s best to visit their physical store in person.

Bike Energy Lab prides itself on its comprehensive bike fitting services. It offers computational fluid dynamics, digital motion capture, and other advanced bike fitting techniques. 

What’s impressive about these services is Antony, the owner, being one of the few bike fitters in Asia certified to offer them. His Fit Institute Slowtwitch (FIST) and Retul certifications show his knowledge of the field.   

In fact, he’s worked with various professional triathletes, bike racers, and even world champion event qualifiers. This track record speaks volumes about his skills. 

Meanwhile, when it comes to bike repair and maintenance, they can cover the basics. They handle common issues like chain and tire replacements, gear adjustments, and regular maintenance.

However, if your bicycle requires extensive work, this shop isn’t ideal since Bike Energy Lab’s services focus more on bike fitting.

Another spot worth checking out is The Bicycle Shop in Sheung Shui. This shop is known for its quick turnaround time, providing same-day repairs, wheel service, and routine maintenance for various bike types.      

What’s noteworthy about them is that they specify the time required for all the in-store repair services they offer. For example, brake repairs or replacements take 50 minutes, while basic maintenance for road and mountain bikes takes 180 minutes. 

Of course, these are just estimates, but we’re impressed that their customers consistently praise them for their speedy and reliable bike repair services. 

We also appreciate their upfront and reasonable pricing. Basic repair and assembly services here range from HKD 100 to HKD 800. Plus, they offer discounts on bike parts and accessories.

Overall, we really like The Bicycle Shop’s service range. Our only complaint is that the bike parts they offer are limited to the brands they endorse. 

If you’re dropping by for a sudden repair, the shop may not have the specific bike component you need.

Cyclist Workshop Bike Fit Centre offers a wide range of bike repair and maintenance services, focusing on mountain and road bikes. 

What we like most about this shop is its experienced mechanics, who can handle niche bikes and regular repairs and maintenance. 

In addition, it’s an excellent choice for cyclists who need custom bike restoration, modification, and adjustments. Cyclist Workshop stocks a wide selection of specialty parts and equipment that can be hard to find in other bike shops.           

In addition to repairs, they sell various bikes. These include carbon and road bikes from brands like Merida, Pinarello, and Giant.    

The only downside is that the shop is small and sometimes lacks staff, so it can’t accommodate many walk-in customers. We suggest booking an appointment in advance to avoid long wait times or being turned away.  

The good thing is they are responsive, so you can easily reach out to them via phone or email to schedule an appointment.
