Unleash Your Sherlock Holmes with The 3 Best Escape Rooms in Hong Kong
When friends overseas come over, they always talk of the same things: wanting to walk along the avenue of stars, see Victoria Peak for the 9th time, and take the cable car to Ngong Ping – this time, in the all-glass ride!
I say, ditch the idea and let’s play Sherlock – Hong Kong has a couple of escape rooms that are just as thrilling as the tourist spots. No other experience will have you laughing at your cluelessness or have your heart throbbing like you’re on a zip line!
Now, we’ve done the detective work for you (it’s the not-so-fun part, don’t worry!), and we have some of Hong Kong’s best escape rooms to check out. See if you can win with time to spare!

We find Fox in a Box a great option for those who love a variety of escape room options. They offer a solid range of themes, including Life Sentence, Zodiac Killer, and the Zombie Lab.
If there’s one word to generally describe each puzzle, it’s that everything feels realistic. From the decorations and atmospheric lighting to the highly detailed props, every game room feels like stepping into a movie set.
We liked that the puzzles are also versatile. The experiences work well for beginners, children, teens, and even seasoned escape room fans. For reference, kids as young as 8 years old all said they had a great time here.
However, some rooms feel too challenging without hints, causing frustrations here and there. Game hosts will offer hints anyway, so it’s best to stay calm and organized.
With prices ranging from $240 to $260 per person, they provided good value for a full-hour exclusive room. Corporate packages are also available if you want to book for special events.
If you want to book a slot, we recommend reaching out at least a week in advance as slots fill up quickly, especially on weekends. Take time choosing the right game for you too, as there’s limited replay value in the room.
Excellent and engaging
“I took my team to Fox in a Box for our monthly team building event. Needless to say we were not disappointed; we did Life Sentence, Zodiac and Bunker and all 3 rooms required effective communication, teamwork and problem solving, ideal for our needs. The host Viv was excellent and engaged with us flawlessly, making not only, for an educational but also thoroughly enjoyable experience. Well done Fox in a Box!!!”

LOST offers a wide range of escape room themes of varying difficulty levels, making them a great choice for beginners and experts. They provide English and Cantonese support for many of the games, ideal for local and international players.
The game experience is solid, thanks to the staff who are friendly, helpful, and willing to provide hints without giving away full solutions. They even offer extended playtime in some cases, so guests can still enjoy even if they don’t escape in time.
Corporate customers may find them a solid option too. This is because they offer 6 specialized team-building modes, including Team Battle, Escape Run, and Virtual Escape. Options can be scaled up to accommodate up to 100 participants.
We find the replay value to be great as well. Post-game debriefs are not only comprehensive, but the games are also regularly updated. Players can expect to see new concepts, technologies, and mechanics from time to time.
Unfortunately, these games may not be the best option for kids – certain puzzles have been said to be “illogical,” requiring trial-and-error instead. Prices are also on the higher side, so budgeting is advised.
Clever and adequately challenging
“I had a pretty good time at LOST overall. The space itself is a bit on the smaller side, so it felt a little crowded, especially when it got busy. But once you get into the games, it’s clever and adequately challenging. LOST has lots of engaging scenarios that keep you thinking and working together. Definitely worth a visit.”

One of the best
“A great experience, occasionally some jump scares. But overall, it’s one of the best escape rooms that I have played so far”

With its location in Mong Kong, Freeing HK! is a convenient and accessible option for both locals and tourists looking for indoor entertainment. At $168 to $218 per game, their rates are reasonable for a small group of friends.
There are various types of themed escape rooms too, including options like Girls’ Dormitory, Haunted Hotel, and Kidnapping. There are various levels of difficulty, so players can choose based on their skill level.
Games are fun and challenging – most players said they found the atmosphere thrilling. There’s a good bit of challenge in each one as well, so it doesn’t feel impossible to solve.
The staff members also got our attention, as everyone is kind and helpful. Booking slots with their help is easy, even accommodating adjustments wherever possible. Even the game hosts keep a good energy, providing hints when needed.
The downside is that there were instances of poor English communication, though it’s not something a simple translator app can’t solve. Some props appear poorly maintained as well, which takes away from the experience.
Thrilling experience
“female staffs were really nice, played the ‘girls dormitory’ room and the experience was thrilling as hell, highly recommended !!”

Fun and challenging
“This is really fun and challenging. My friends and I can get out of the room at last. It is really challenging because the time limit is a bit tight. We can only have 45 minutes for each game. The price is also quite resonable. There are many rooms for you to choose and you can choose them according to their themes or the difficulties. Worth to visit again! Highly recommended!”
