1. Sushi Saito

Sushi Saito in Hong Kong offers an amazing omakase meal crafted by Chef Takashi Saito. The restaurant is known for preparing every dish using fresh seafood sourced daily from Tokyo’s Toyosu Market.

The atmosphere was cozy and upscale, perfect for those who want a high-end experience. However, it can be tough to get a table due to limited seating and popularity. We recommend booking ahead, especially since they’re closed on Wednesdays.

Chef Saito’s sushi was exceptional, and the relaxed ambiance only elevated the dining experience. Each course of the omakase menu featured meticulously selected seasonal ingredients, such as prized tuna, delicate sea urchin, and sweet shrimp.

As a Michelin-starred restaurant, Sushi Saito is pricey. That said, the quality of the ingredients and the experience itself make it worth the splurge.

“Mindblowing omakase edomae sushi on the 45th floor of Four Seasons HK. How can food be this simple and out of this world delicious? Paired our course with two carafes of sake (more than enough). The course will take roughly an hour to complete. The chef will serve you at a relentless pace yet still give you ample time to savour the exquisite flavours of the sea. For an authentic Edomae-style omakase, Sushi Zo Hong Kong is a great stop. Located in Tai Kwun, this fine restaurant offers a Michelin-star dining experience crafted by Chef Keizo.

During our visit, we found the restaurant cozy. It seats just 12 guests per session across three daily time slots. This was the type of personal dining experience that we were eagerly looking for. 

The menu changes daily with seasonal ingredients flown in from Japan. This ensures everything is kept interesting and new. Every pick is fresh and top-notch under executive chef Ryohei Sugawara’s watch.

We recommend trying out their 12-course omakase lunch. Each ingredient is bursting with flavor – fresh but not fishy. For more extensive dining, an 18-course dinner is a great pick, though it’s priced much higher.

With lunch served from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm and dinner from 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm, Sushi Zo Hong Kong is quite a popular spot. Book ahead because it’s a small venue and fills up fast, even with reservations.

At Kushiro, ambiance is one of the biggest draws. The moment you walk in, you’ll be surrounded by a beautifully designed Japanese garden that’s themed around the phases of the moon. 

We loved their creative twists. For example, their seasonal seafood specials like their kawa, hana, and kou. 

They typically feature top-quality sea urchins, sushi, and makis. But they change their flavors and design depending on the season –  like winter-themed seafood during snowy seasons.

Another major thing that impressed us is their use of fresh ingredients. They source seafood daily from Japanese fish markets, such as sashimi-grade tuna and tender scallops.

Despite being on the pricier side, we believe Kushiro is worth every penny. Its quality ingredients and atmosphere make it ideal for couples and solo diners who prefer privacy over anything.

Visiting Sushi Nyoi truly feels like a trip to Japan. For starters, their ingredients are freshly bought and imported directly from Japan, delivering a level of freshness and flavors \reminiscent of Japanese cuisine. 

What sets it apart is its meticulously curated omakase dinner menus, with prices ranging from $1,280 to $2,000. They offer diverse textures from seasonal ingredients with 9 to 12 sushi selections, sashimi, and premium uni.

For lunch, Sushi Nyoi offers a range of equally impressive options, such as the $368 Premium Sushi set and the indulgent $798 omakase experience. They’re much cheaper (since there are fewer dishes), but the quality of the food is just the same. 

The restaurant’s elegant ambiance makes it ideal for intimate gatherings or special occasions. The attentive service enhances the dining experience from start to finish, making you feel like a VIP throughout. 

However, there could be some booking issues, with some customers finding their bookings deleted. While the restaurant said they’re taking action to improve this, we recommend simply calling ahead to ensure you get a spot.

“Excellent value. Not the bestest sushi but I would say top end range. Friendly sushi chef who explains some of the special fishes. Our experience at Zuicho in Hong Kong offers an authentic journey into Japanese Kappo cuisine. Each dish is served fresh and is directly sourced from Japanese markets. 

Tying out their Omakase Menu at $2,500, we were met with buttery smooth tuna with a delicate balance of sweetness and an umami flavor. Their grilled Wagyu beef was tender with a rich and juicy flavor that lingers as an aftertaste.

For a more premium meal, you can try the $3,500 Omakase menu. It offers creamy and briny Hokkaido uni that’s rich in oceanic taste without being too tangy. Their miso-marinated black cod is also something to note, with its flaky texture and sweet and savory miso glaze.

Chef Suzuk’s precise knife work and expert grilling techniques are evident in every presentation. Plus, their thoughtful beverage pairings, like sake and plum wine, further elevate the flavors and enhance the dish.

While Zuicho offers culinary excellence and an immersive atmosphere, making reservations can be challenging. The usual omakase experience here is also slightly more expensive than most, although the quality really speaks for itself.
