The 5 Best Private Tutors in Hong Kong That Can Get You Into Oxbridge
I still remember the stress of applying to uni like it was yesterday. Late nights buried in books, the panic before mock interviews, and aunties at reunions with their endless “So, which university?”
In Hong Kong, where getting into Oxbridge or Cambridge is literally a bragging right, hiring a private tutor will really set you ahead. But of course, you can’t just settle for the average cram school setting. Specialization matters too!
If you’re ready to take on one Ivy League after another, here are the only tutors in Hong Kong to trust.
How much does it cost to hire a private tutor in Hong Kong? The cost of hiring a private tutor in Hong Kong ranges from $100 to $1,500 per hour, depending on the tutor’s qualifications, student level, and subject. Primary and secondary students typically pay $100 to $500 per hour, while university-level or adult tutoring ranges from $200 to $800 per hour. Specialized subjects tend to be more expensive per hour. |

What sets Keystone apart is the caliber of their tutors, many of whom are graduates of top UK universities. That’s why their tutoring services are tailored to those who are eyeing leading UK schools, like Cambridge and Oxford.
We liked that they focus on a wide range of subjects, including Math, English, and Computer Science. According to the students we spoke with, this helped them earn better grades and become more confident.
As for the programs, they offer packages that range from 60 to 90-minute sessions. The rates depend on the tutor’s experience and subject. What’s nice, however, is that most of them are flexible with session times – sometimes the students can extend the lesson.
Everything is pretty seamless too. The initial consultation was a breeze (a plus for busy parents), and tutor pairing was fast and comprehensive. Every student we interviewed said their tutor was the perfect fit in style, schedule, and skill.
If there’s one thing to note, it’s that their rates are on the higher end, which can be limiting for most families. But for those who want to invest in quality tutoring for UK education, they’re a solid choice.

We were impressed by how British Tutors blend academic tutorship with mentoring. The place is a great spot for English and Math, particularly for students who need a more personalized approach to learning.
Their services go beyond weekly lessons. They also offer in-depth academic assessments, particularly for transitions between school systems or preparation exams like UKiset, CAT4, and ISEB.
For the sessions, we like the option to choose between 60 and 90-minute sessions. The best part is the flexibility – sessions can be delivered at home, in their office, or online. The choice ultimately depends on the student’s needs and budget.
Another standout offering is their school admissions consultancy, which is especially valuable for families targeting UK schools. We like that they cover everything from initial school selection to interview preparation.
Like most tutoring services of this caliber, the rates are high, so that’s something to consider. We also wish they had more specialty areas in subjects, which could be helpful for students with specific learning gaps.
Great and inspiring
“Nathaniel and Patricia are the best tutors at British Tutors. Nathaniel teaches my daughter, Erica English and Patricia teaches Math. They have both inspired Erica on her writing skill and she is more confident on her math this term.”

HKETS is one of the most comprehensive tutoring centers in the city. Located conveniently in Central, this place supports English-speaking learners, catering to both international and EMI school students.
We were impressed by their wide subject coverage. They offer over 25 IGCSE and IB subjects, including Math, Biology, and Computer Studies. This makes them a solid choice for various preparation exams.
Our team’s happy to note that there’s room flexibility here too. Students can choose between private one-on-one sessions or join small group workshops. There are only 3 to 6 students each, so studying still feels individualized.
Their services go beyond regular tutoring. Learners can also sign up for interactive grade booster workshops, revision classes, and even adult language programs. Plus, classes are available both online and in-person at their Central office.
However, we think their pricing transparency could be improved. There’s little information about hourly rates or trial lessons, and reaching out to ask this takes a few days. Though we want to note that parents said their rates are reasonable.
Excellent educational resources
“I highly recommend this IGCSE tutoring center to all parents in Hong Kong. The classes are well-structured, and the educational resources are excellent. My son has significantly improved his math skills with their support.”

Very friendly and professionals
“I was having a hard time finding a good tutoring center for my son. I discovered HKETS in Google maps, they are located near my office. Tutors are very friendly and professionals. My son learned a lot in just a few lessons, now he is looking forward to his Math and Biology lessons every week.”

Economics Tutor Hong Kong is an elite option for specialized tutoring services. With decades of experience in both the UK and Hong Kong, the place has excellent offerings for international and local students alike.
What we especially liked is how comprehensive the services are. Each private session is tailored for either 60 minutes or 90 minutes. Students can also choose to take the sessions face-to-face or via Zoom.
Even better is how transparent the fees are. And at $1,000 to $1,200 per session, their rates are reasonable for the average HK household.
We find them to be a great option for university-level pursuits too. This is because they offer consulting for Oxbridge and Ivy League hopefuls. Services include application reviews, interview prep, and pre-admission test training.
The test training is a 30-minute session that costs $500.
The place limits the number of students per academic season. While this ensures personalized attention, it also warrants the need to book early, as availability is limited. It’s something to consider during high-stakes exam seasons.
Dedicated and systematic teaching
“Mr Wray breaks down complicated concepts in such a masterful way and this really helped clarify some tricky topics for me. He teaches exam techniques really systematically so that I knew exactly what to do even before I even stepped foot in the exam room. He’s also really dedicated and was willing to mark practice papers for me even when I gave them to him at odd hours of the night which you don’t see from many other tutors. Can’t be gladder to have worked with him.”

Witty and enjoyable
“Breaks down even the most complex diagrams in a comprehensible and in-depth manner. Shares his years of experience through contemporary examples which has drastically improved my understanding of different topics. A witty tutor that improves grades and makes for an enjoyable lesson, thoroughly recommend.”

Bespoke focuses on convenience and accessibility, offering one-on-one tutoring both in-person and online. Scheduling is flexible too, as students can opt for their own session length, whether it’s 1 hour per week or 20.
The overall process is seamless – students are often matched with the right tutor within 48 hours. The staff are responsive to all queries too, if ever there are delays.
Most of the tutors here are UK-qualified teachers, so we’re confident in their credentials. According to the students, they learned many important skills beyond academics from the tutors.
Some learned better English speaking, while others felt prepared for cognitive assessments.
Apart from the traditional core subjects, they also focus on key skills like time management and critical thinking. Because of this, we think they’re a solid choice for well-rounded learning.
The biggest downside, perhaps, is the relatively high costs. Families on a budget may be better off elsewhere. The quality of long-term and full-time tutoring is still very much there, though.
Gave relevant matches
“I will highly recommend Bespoke Tuition. Emma listened to my brief, understood the needs of my children and matched relevant and suitable tutors to suit the needs of each student. I can see results and confidence after every lesson.”

Love the lesson structure
“Bespoke Tuition offers great service – we are very happy that we have found our tutor via Emma. I like the structure of the lessons, and they will regularly send quite a comprehensive report of the children’s learning status which I found very helpful and offers a different perspective of the children.”
