HKETS is one of the most comprehensive tutoring centers in the city. Located conveniently in Central, this place supports English-speaking learners, catering to both international and EMI school students.

We were impressed by their wide subject coverage. They offer over 25 IGCSE and IB subjects, including Math, Biology, and Computer Studies. This makes them a solid choice for various preparation exams.

Our team’s happy to note that there’s room flexibility here too. Students can choose between private one-on-one sessions or join small group workshops. There are only 3 to 6 students each, so studying still feels individualized.

Their services go beyond regular tutoring. Learners can also sign up for interactive grade booster workshops, revision classes, and even adult language programs. Plus, classes are available both online and in-person at their Central office.

However, we think their pricing transparency could be improved. There’s little information about hourly rates or trial lessons, and reaching out to ask this takes a few days. Though we want to note that parents said their rates are reasonable.

What we especially liked is how comprehensive the services are. Each private session is tailored for either 60 minutes or 90 minutes. Students can also choose to take the sessions face-to-face or via Zoom.

Even better is how transparent the fees are. And at $1,000 to $1,200 per session, their rates are reasonable for the average HK household.

We find them to be a great option for university-level pursuits too. This is because they offer consulting for Oxbridge and Ivy League hopefuls. Services include application reviews, interview prep, and pre-admission test training.

The test training is a 30-minute session that costs $500.

The place limits the number of students per academic season. While this ensures personalized attention, it also warrants the need to book early, as availability is limited. It’s something to consider during high-stakes exam seasons.

Bespoke focuses on convenience and accessibility, offering one-on-one tutoring both in-person and online. Scheduling is flexible too, as students can opt for their own session length, whether it’s 1 hour per week or 20. 

The overall process is seamless – students are often matched with the right tutor within 48 hours. The staff are responsive to all queries too, if ever there are delays.

Most of the tutors here are UK-qualified teachers, so we’re confident in their credentials. According to the students, they learned many important skills beyond academics from the tutors. 

Some learned better English speaking, while others felt prepared for cognitive assessments.

Apart from the traditional core subjects, they also focus on key skills like time management and critical thinking. Because of this, we think they’re a solid choice for well-rounded learning. 

The biggest downside, perhaps, is the relatively high costs. Families on a budget may be better off elsewhere. The quality of long-term and full-time tutoring is still very much there, though.
