The 5 Best Dog Trainers in Hong Kong for Fast Results in Just Weeks

Training Methods: We evaluated whether the trainers used positive reinforcement, balanced training, or aversive methods. We preferred those that offered humane approaches for long-term behavior change. Flexibility and Scheduling: We considered how easy it was to book sessions and whether the trainer offered flexible hours or emergency sessions. We also checked if they were willing to tailor session frequency based on the dog’s needs. Value for Money: We reviewed the cost of training packages and what was included: the number of sessions, duration, and additional resources. Transparency pricing and clear billing are both considered. Specialization: We considered the range of services offered, such as puppy training, obedience, behavioral modification, and service dog training. We preferred those with experience handling anxiety and aggression.

Want to know what real struggle is? It’s walking your pup at the Avenue of Stars in TST only to have him lunging at every pigeon he sees! It’s fun for him, yes, but not so fun for the owner (who everyone is now judging for poor parenting skills).

You know what, I get it. The streets are always busy, and everyone seems to be walking at 20 KPH. With so many limits, we all need the pros to take the hassle off our hands. Plus, they can work miracles on even the most mischievous dogs.

If you want fast results and have your naughty boy turn into a good boy in real time, here are the only dog trainers in Hong Kong to call.

How much does dog training cost in Hong Kong?

The cost of dog training in Hong Kong ranges from $700 to $1,200 per hour for basic private training. Board-and-train options range from $3,000 to $4,000 for two weeks. Additional services like consultations, grooming, and pet sitting can add to the total.

The thing we liked best about HK Dog schools is their unique belt-style training program, which was modeled after martial arts. The format allows dogs to go from white to black belt level, providing clear milestones for the parents.

They offer a wide range of services, including puppy socialization classes, advanced obedience, and behavior correction. We appreciate the flexible options too: private, at-home, and by group.

According to the dog owners, the results of the training are long-lasting. In particular, we noted multiple mentions of improved obedience, better socialization, and a boost in confidence.

The trainers themselves are worth talking about. We find them patient and engaging with the dogs, and kind and responsive to the owners. They even have WhatsApp group chats where they share training videos and advice.

We’re just missing a few conveniences like easy online booking and seamless refunds. They’re not major drawbacks, though we see how they can be deal breakers for owners in busy households.

Pros

  • Clearly defined training milestones
  • Wide range of services
  • Covers many skills in BB classes
  • Private, group, at-home training options
  • WhatsApp group available
  • Reported long-term improvement
  • Suitable for international certification prep
  • Clean and safe training environment

Cons

  • No online booking option
  • Non-refundable payments

Supportive and encouraging

“I never thought I could complete all the stages! And I was able to leave beautiful memories with my baby girl.

Sir and classmates can feel each other’s support and encouragement!

What I learned is not only the current skills, but most importantly, it strengthened my relationship with my dog to a higher level!”

Lively and well-behaved dogs

“After about a year, Maru and I successfully passed the exam from white belt to black belt!! We encountered many different problems in the process, and Heyton Sir and Raymie would patiently answer us. In addition, I also met a group of dogs and their owners. They practiced very hard. We would share practice clips in the WhatsApp group and discuss how to do fancy moves. I saw the owners and dogs grow together. The dogs also established socialization in the class and became well-behaved and lively. The owners also learned how to reward the dogs, encourage the dogs to try, and are willing to spend time to cultivate feelings with the dogs. It is worth recommending to everyone👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️”

Daniel Dog Training earned our favor with its impressive facility. Their grounds offer multiple themed swimming pools, vast grasslands for off-leash play, and even a dog-friendly cafe. For active breeds, this is a win.

The structure of their training programs is also noteworthy. In particular, we love their residential board-and-tran option, which lasts for 10 to 30 days. This one covers behavior correction, obedience, and basic commands.

In general, owners can choose between one-on-one sessions and group instruction. The results for either option are very impressive.

Many furparents reported massive improvements in leash manners in recall, just after one session in the program.

The trainers are great too – they’re attentive and friendly, and they make the booking process easy. We also love that they go above and beyond. For instance, they’d often provide raw meat cakes for dogs having their birthdays.

However, the place may need stronger supervision in place. This is because owners reported dogs coming home with minor scratches, likely due to rough play. While these incidents are rare, we still wish to see changes.

Pros

  • Spacious outdoor grounds
  • Multiple themed swimming pools
  • Dog-friendly cafe
  • Free on-site parking
  • Structured board-and-train programs
  • One-on-one and group sessions available
  • Noticeable improvements
  • Clean environment
  • Attentive and kind trainers
  • Open access to dog park areas
  • Covers a wide range of basic skills

Cons

  • Minor reports of dogs getting small scratches
  • Remote location

What we loved most about Blissful Pas is the depth of their training services. Programs are fully customized, but they generally cover all the foundational skills: basic manners, correcting leash reactivity, and separation anxiety.

There are various plans too, such as the Foundation Package (4 sessions) and Intensive Plan (12 sessions). Sessions last from 50 to 60 minutes and can take place at home, a suggested location, or even online.

We find the lessons effective, thanks to the founder’s experience as a behavior consultant. With this experience, they tailor their approach using research-backed methods. According to the owners, the results are immediate and positive.

What’s nice is that they also offer daycare and boarding services, so owners can simply stick to a single provider for dog-related care. Across all their services, owners receive real-time updates to keep up with their dogs’ progress.

Just take note, rates here are relatively expensive, with intensive programs costing up to $11,500. Considering this, they may be the best choice for those who prefer long-term commitments, but not very much for those on a budget.

Pros

  • Customized one-on-one training
  • Science-based, force-free methods
  • Specializes in reactive dogs
  • Training at home or at a chosen location
  • Option for online sessions
  • Comprehensive packages available
  • Easy online booking
  • Home-style booking available
  • Real-time photo/video updates
  • Immediate improvements

Cons

  • Relatively expensive
  • Limited capacity

Lovely and very helpful

“Lilian runs the best dog daycare in Hong Kong, she has been taking care of my pups for more than three years and it’s been lovely. She also helped us prepare to fly with my dog at the airport and it really eased the process a lot! Highly recommend to anyone looking for a dog daycare/ boarding!”

Knowledgeable and professional

“Lilian is our dog behaviorist/trainer and I’m so glad that we’ve found her. Very knowledgeable and professional in terms of providing resources and recommendations for our reactive dog! After the initial consultation, I have a much clearer idea about how/why my dog is responding to things in his environment. I also really appreciated how she had plenty of research and citations to back up her methods. I have had sessions with a few other dog trainers my dog but none of them provide the same quality of service that she does.”

MH Pet Service won us over with the quality of their service. Their team specializes in behavior correction and socialization. And according to the clients we spoke to, significant improvements can be seen in just 3 to 4 sessions.

One of their standout programs is their 30-day boarding and training course. This package includes daily one-on-one training, social playtime, and 2 monitored play sessions. It’s an ideal setup for shy dogs that need a confidence boost.

Private and in-person classes are also available and tailored to each dog’s needs. What’s nice about this is that they’re tailored to first-time owners who need help with proper handling.

For overseas clients, they also offer one-on-one online sessions. They have clients in the UK and Canada, as of this writing.

We appreciate that owners can still contact them after the course. They receive post-training support and an easy Q&A process via WhatsApp. They’re responsive and won’t make you feel like an ex-client at all.

However, a few owners raised concerns that their staff are not equipped with first aid knowledge, which is worrying in cases of a dog fight. Improvements here will definitely boost our confidence in them.

Pros

  • Specializes in behavior correction and socialization
  • Trailord trains methods
  • Notable improvements
  • Offers a 30-day board-and-train program
  • Daily video updates for transparency
  • Includes grooming in long-term programs
  • Effective for shy and anxious dogs
  • Private in-person classes available
  • Online training for overseas clients
  • Organizes social events for owners
  • Responsive post-training support

Cons

  • Concerns about outdated techniques
  • Lacks first aid knowledge

Truly understood dogs’ needs

“I couldn’t be happier with the private dog training course my dog attended with trainer MH. MH was incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and truly understood my dog’s needs. The progress we’ve seen in just a few sessions is incredible! I highly recommend this training course to anyone looking to strengthen their bond with their furries and improve their behavior. Thank you to MH and the entire team for their dedication and expertise!”

Experienced and patient

“The trainer is very experienced and has patient. He has helped my 2 dogs to improve a lot! We’re so glad to see the great improvement after the 3 training sessions! He also trained my maids and taught her how to take care and handle the dogs when they have bad behaviours.”

Pet Sitting Diary’s services span all ages and behavioral needs. They offer puppy training, obedience training, and behavior correction courses for more complex issues. With these offerings, we find them a solid option for all dog types and ages.

Each session lasts one hour and can be conducted at home. The rates are reasonable too (and in fact, among the most affordable in this list), at $750 to $900 per hour. For owners with multiple dogs or who are on a budget, they’re a solid choice.

Trainers are all certified and maintain a good attitude throughout. They use science-based, force-free methods, so owners can rest assured that their pets are safe at all times.

On top of this, they also noted visible improvements in just a few sessions. Plus, the place offers home pet sitting and grooming services, making them a one-stop shop for a wide range of needs.

We just wish their website were better equipped for bookings, so it’s easier to book during peak holiday periods. Fortunately, everything else met our standards, and we’re happy to recommend them to HK pet owners.

  • Force-free, science-based training
  • In-home and on-location sessions
  • Wide range of services

Super attentive and responsible

“While we were abroad, we asked Tina to help take care of our cat at home. She was super attentive and responsible—she handled everything from feeding, cleaning the litter box, to playing with our cat, and always updated us on how things were going. Thanks to her, we could travel worry-free. Really grateful for her care and highly recommend her to anyone needing in-home pet sitting! 🐾”
